Draft Lottery

The Knicks have more incentive to trade their pick. I think they are serious LeBron contenders. At least they think they are.

Dumping Noah gives them a shot. #9 is no guarantee. If you are NY, a shot at LBJ is worth it. If they strike out, They they have cap space in 2019
A.) You draft BPA and hope somebody surprising falls to your pick.
B.) You see what Kanter, Baker and O’Quinn decide to do with their player options.
C.) You get the commitment from LeBron, THEN you figure out the financials.

It’ll be easier to stretch Noah and then trade Hardaway, Lee or Mudiay + assets to make the necessary cap space if he wants to come. You don’t trade a top 10 pick to get off a bad contract on a whim.

Any chance Quin can talk Igor into giving us Bender for #21?

Joe Ingles and Oneal are out only real trading assets. Ingles would be great with that young core in Pheonix.

Considering Ingles is unlikely to be around when this team really peaks does everyone consider him off limit or would you move him for the right piece?

Its been a couple of years since i recall teams dumping salary. Are we back there again?

Also seems like GMs have all inflated the value of draft picks. I wonder what the pick to cap relief ratio will be this summer.

How do you get a commitment if you don't have the capspace and aren't sure you can get it?

That question is of course rhetorical.

It would take a borderline miracle for NY to emerge as a threat. And even if they do, a Mitchell in MSG Finals would be unreal...

I agree. The amount of pressure on this pick will dominate the "pre-draft" discussion. I still stand by my theory that I would prefer to take whoever isn't taken #1. If Igor wasn't Doncic's former coach, I would want #1 to take Ayton. I just think this puts a ton of pressure on Igor from day 1 especially if he goes out on a limb to select Doncic over Ayton.

I mean, you realize Doncic played against far superior competition than Ayton and dominated, in a way we've never seen from an foreign prospect, was already coached by Igor the Great and is younger, right?

By tons of pressure, do you mean salivating of the mouth at the thought of having Doncic.

Not saying the Suns shouldn't draft Ayton, but damn, who in their educated right mind is going to knock them for taking Doncic? Mr. Hindsight and Sal the Soothsayer?

Nah... can’t trade a top ten pick for a slim chance tha LBJ comes. Any team that wants Bron doesn’t have to clear space to get him... he can go CP3 route... or give back minor stuff in sign and trade.

Knicks ain’t trading the pick for cap relief... you can book it.

Luka is the truth... Ayton may not even like playing basketball.

Ellis gets it

After being swept, Lebron will go to LAL with Paul George or Houston with Chris Paul. Knicks are too far away from contention and LBJ is not getting any younger.

Which probably means Houston will be paying another team to take on Ryan Anderson's salary.

If he goes to Houston it will have to be the same way CP went to Houston. So Cleveland would likely eat Anderson’s salary and give up picks and likely Gordon too.

Don't you mean Houston?

Also, on the idea that you can wait out super teams: they usually exist.

Nah I think Cleveland would have to accept Anderson’s salary as part of the trade... they’d get picks and stuff but they’d need requisite salary to match. They don’t have a real way to pure cap space for LBJ and I don’t think he takes a paycut out of principle.

I think LBJ goes to LA, Philly, or Houston. If Lakers get Kawhi I’d call them the favorite. Those two alone are enough to build a contender around.

If I’m Cleveland, I tell Houston to take a flying leap.

The only way I’d even consider a deal with them is if I get Capela AND a windfall of picks AND I legitimately think he might go to either Boston or Philly.

If LeBron leaves, I want him in the West until his career is over.
