The Ultimate Best Elite World-Class Jazz Off-Season Guide

You can say what you want. But Rudy got exposed against the rockets. He was horrible! Donovan needed someone else to create a shot and another elite perimeter defender to guard a guy like harden. Time will tell, and I hope I’m wrong. I just don’t think he’s the guy and this might be our opportunity to bring in a top 5 nba player.

He had a better playoff run than Kawhi. Much better. In fact, in Rudy’s “injury-riddled” year he helped propel his team from 10th place to the second round and was the DPOY. Mr. Health Kawhi, meanwhile...

Yes kawhi was hurt too. I just think our upside with him is greater than with Rudy. And I don’t see another chance at his caliber of player happening anytime soon.

How many years do you think we’d get out of him?

I think we would keep him on the player option because of Donovan Mitchell. So a minimum of 2 yrs. and we would be the front runner to resign. I don’t think he needs the hype of a big market team/media. Rudy’s contract seems too long and too expensive to me. I think we over paid.

You think Rudy is over paid? Please dude.

I don’t think that means we shouldn’t try.
Trying to get him is fine. . . but trading a franchise player like Gobert to rent him is asinine. You try to sign him as a free agent. No question he wants to be here if he signs at that point. In fact, having Gobert is likely a draw for him to come. Just don’t see it as very realistic. There’s probably a better (but not great) chance of getting PG13 or Butler tbh.

If trying entails giving up our best player, who is on a long-term deal and loves the franchise, then yes, it absolutely means we should not try.[/QUOTE

I think It’s worth the risk to possibly win a title. With the lineup we have now, even with the potential, I don’t think we win a championship unless you bring in 1 more elite player on both ends of the floor (Donovan being our ONLY elite player at both ends).

I like Rudy too, but he’s our best opportunity to trade for a big name right now because his value and contract.

Kawhi is better offensively.

And so is favors at the 5 spot. Favors is better in the pick and roll because he can pick and pop.

I don’t think you’ll loose a ton defensively because
You lose a ton defensively.

Do you actually pay attention? The Jazz are a historically great defensive team with Rudy, because of Rudy. Point blank. There is no mystery to that.

If you want to make the argument that there is a net-positive in such a trade because of what you get offensively and gaining defensive FLEXIBILITY (but at a huge overall defensive cost), then that's not offensively dumb.

There is no one in the NBA that replaces Rudy. There just isn't, and he is the heart and soul of the locker room and the captain of the defense. This team, and all that we love about it, simply does not exist without him. Trading what he does on the court and the intangibles he provides for a guy that might bolt in a year because his uncle says would be an unmitigated, absolute disaster. Especially since your fantasy roster still doesn't compete with the Warriors or the Rockets.

Rudy won’t get us to the promised land. And I love Rudy, because he loves playing here. And his effort is huge. But what’s the best route for us to win a title?

Rubio/Mitchell/Leonard/Parker/favors starting lineup I think can win a championship.

The best route is for Gobert and Mitchell to be on the team and ADD a piece.

Rubio/Mitchell/Leonard/Parker/favors

Bring ingles/crowder off the bench at the 3/4 position for 6th man of the year.

OHHHHHH, I get it. You don't think defense matters that much. Parker AND get rid of Rudy? Good god, man. Did you watch what the Jazz did to Melo? Do you understand that one terrible defensive player - especially one playing as a big - can ruin an entire defense against a good team/a team in the playoffs?

That takes the Jazz from a historically-great defensive team to hopefully top-ten.

Also, the Jazz couldn't re-sign Favors AND go after Parker. Full stop. That's not even addressing dumping every single player on an option, and also finding a way to trading Burks for no returning salary (or Rubio?).

I think we just trade Rudy Gobert for kawhi Leonard. Rudy is too big of a liability on offense against good teams.

I like the pick up of Jabari Parker.

Keep favors.
This is a bad take. Welcome to the board. Congrats on getting owned hard in your first 11 posts.

Kawhi is a huge risk right now because of injuries and attitude. You mess up and have him not play up to that massive contract and the Jazz are screwed big time. Trading Rudy Gobert to take on that risk is asinine.

I understand trying to go big on acquiring a star player, but this is definitely not the way to do it. This is NBA2K bad. This is so bad that it makes some of Lopo’s asinine trade threads look reasonable.

The only problem with Rudy’s contract is that it’s not longer.

This has to be an alt.

I’ve been watching everybody’s horrible trade takes on this thread for years. Every year it’s let’s pick up this mid level guy or crappy stretch 4 that won’t really take us to an elite level.

I honestly think getting kawhi can get us to championship level. If there’s a way we could do that and keep Gobert I’m for it. But I think trading Gobert gives us the best chance at acquiring kawhi. Keeping Gobert and adding a half &$& stretch 4 doesn’t get us pass the Wc finals in my opinion. toward the top but not a championship level team.

I’ve followed the jazz since I was at David Robinson’s 1st game in slc in the salt palace in 1989, and they never take a risk to win it all. Even in the Stockton to Malone days.

With Donovan Mitchell now on this team, who is our best player since the Stockton to Malone days. It’s time we take a chance and try to win! Now. Maybe Donovan can recruit a guy in free agency in the next 2-4 years. But a trade may be our only chance to get a kawhi quality player, even if only for 2 years.
