Jazz select Grayson Allen at 21

that is... I laugh when guys get excited about 60/100 or a big shooting 40-50/100. I'm a pickup player... I make 60/100 from NBA in open gym shooting. I'm good, but there are 4-5 guys I play with that didn't make it past HS level who are way better shooters than I am.

85/100 is really good.
Yes, but can you do a full NBA workout and do that? That is what they do in these workouts. "The Jazz 100" is at the very end of the workout and I'm sure its not just 100 spot-up 3's.

And I don't get people complaining about selling the 52nd pick. The Jazz have a nearly full roster, a young center they still need to find time to develop, and 2-way contract players. The Jazz are clearly investing more into seasoned young players (guys who have spent years in the G-League or overseas) to develop over the limited pool of late 2nd round players. DL said he tried to trade up in the 2nd round to target a guy, but it didnt work out. I dont think there is any reason to randomly draft someone you dont believe in if you dont have the roster space.

Yes, they havent hit on as many 2nd round players as they did in the past under KOC, but it's not like they haven't gotten any (like I've read some people say). Everyone somehow forget Raul Neto existed. The 47th overall pick who has played 162 games for the Jazz, starting 53 of those.

And the Jazz are still under that "legacy trust" thing where no money is taken out of the team by the owners. So if the Jazz are selling the pick, it's not like it's going to Greg to buy something unrelated to the Jazz. It's probably to help pay for stuff like the free agent mini-camps they do, which helped unearth a guy like Royce O'Neale.

Yeah it has to be harder than just going around the horn and shoot cos I've seen guys make closer to 80% doing that.

If I am to guess it would be a combo of off the dribble shots, off the screen shots, step back shots and in transition pull ups.

God no... I'd puke and tap out during the workout. I wasn't referring to Grayson's Jazz 100 score btw... just when they say "Jamal Murray hit 82/100 threes in the Celtics workout" or my Sacramento friends mentioning WCS hit like 60/100 in practice (can't remember what the number was that circulated).

Or Bruce Brown or (insert non-shooting prospect name) made 10/12 in a highlight video... a lot of guys who don't sniff the NBA can do that... all I'm saying really...

The best one was the Nik Stauskus video when he made 46 HS threes in the row outside in the rain.

He didn't try hard enough then... a **** ton of picks changed hands and I'm not sure many of them were out of what we could have offered.

Think most I ever made in a row was like 21... with a rebounder and passer. Not that it's something I try all the time... just think people don't understand the level of shooting required to be a good NBA shooter.

Yeah, but there is a limit to how much teams can pay for picks. If a team is selling a pick, I'm sure they usually get more than just one offer. There is nothing he can really do outside of just hoping the team that is selling likes him better than the other offers.

All I know, I'm happy the Jazz arent the Bucks. Taking Donte Divincenzo at 17 over Allen, Huerter, and Walker is lulz.
I was never that high on DD. I would’ve still selected Allen over DD
I'm fine with the Grayson pick. After the Wizards took Brown I knew the Jazz were ****ed.

Are you surprised Brown when the that high to the wiz?

Sure... put a few picks in the deal then... there was tremendous value from 34-48... we could have beat one of those offers and can wait until the new cap year to complete the deal if the team has recieved the maximum allowable during the current cap year.
