What's new

Players you fear the jazz might sign in free agency your one dream free agent signing.

Right. You know it's not going to work that way in the real world.

And if it does you're comfortable giving him all the money to do so?

If he stays in OKC he’s #2... goes to LA with LBJ he’s #2... why would it be different here. Plus we’d be blowing fools out... no clutch needed.

Yes, I do.

They didn’t have Mitchell, Gobert, Ingles or Rubio.

We hang our hat on defense and adding an elite defender like George to the #1 defense in the league is downright scary. Similar to KD going to the Warriors except on the defensive side. Not to mention it’s another guy who can get his own shot which is something we desperately need next to Mitchell.

Good, then you remember the 2007-08 team won 55 games (23 in a row at one point) and had the second highest defensive rating and still couldn't get out of the first round. They were every bit as good as last year's Jazz team.

One black hole can kill a team - one black hole eating over a quarter of your cap can kill a franchise.

- Paul George

Ok for the MLE
:
- Trevor Booker
- Dante Cunningham

Why is it garbage that we can trade him later? Like would you rather only have one year left on Jae’s deal? If Favs comes at a discount he’s an asset... we could move him later if that is the case... you of all people should know... trades can happen

Derrick Favors has been a fantastic Jazzman. He has been a loyal servant. For the first time in his career, he is going to experience unrestricted free agency. If he comes back to us, it is a clear sign of loyalty by both Favors and our organization. We aren't going to turn around and trade him in 6 or 18 months like he is just some other asset.

We do one of three things with Favors. Let him go because he signs elsewhere. Sign and trade him immediately to do him a solid and get him more money. Sign him to keep him for the duration of his contract. If we do option #3, he becomes our Udonis Haslem. A solid PF who is a loyal part of the organization as long as we both want it to continue.

*Shaking my head* why do you want Barton or Temple that play the same position as Allen and Mitchell?

Garrett Temple is a Small Forward IMHO. At the very least he guards Small Forwards and I think he is one of the more underrated defenders in the league. He has a very long wingspan and plays with a competitive nature that we love.

Why do the Celtics want Hayward, Tatum, Brown, Semi O, and Morris? Because they are interchangeable, can play on the court at the same time, and give them the flexibility to play 'positionless basketball'. Barton would be an upgrade over Alec Burks right away but he probably requires a similar contract. Temple would be a fan favorite.

Temple could play on the court at the same time as Ingles, Mitchell, Crowder, and Gobert.

Adding PG13 to the jazz would take us to another level. Probably not championship level but pretty damn close. Would be such a great offensive and defensive team and so fun to watch.

Temple can play 1-3... would still love to have him... Grayson is likely going to need some time.

If PG doesn’t bring us to championship level contention why sign him? By the way I disagree, he would make us contenders now.

there is no one the jazz can sign to make us championship contenders. But I do think that you should try to make your team as good as possible and as entertaining to fans as possible.
Plus, you never know if a few key guys for other teams get hurt then you suddenly become legit championship contenders.
Fact is that golden state is pretty much unbeatable when healthy. Doesn't matter who we sign.

If we signed LBJ we'd be title contenders.

Nightmare - signing Favors too much long term which compromises long term flexibility (and please don't reply with - "but we can trade him later" garbage)

Why is that garbage? That's exactly 50% of the point of getting good contracts--the two aspects are (1) so your team isn't as strapped by the cap as otherwise would be, and (2) so the players are tradeable with positive value in case a good trade comes along.

Edit: Ah, I see now you said "too much long term". Makes sense.

I don't think we have a dream at PG, so my dream is Tobias Harris. That's all I want.

I love Harris... I was thinking today though... If Jabari is healthy is he better than Harris (Tobias is not a great defender... has improved over the years)?

If Jabari comes in at 3-50ish I think I'm down for that. I'm guessing Harris ends up making much more than that.

My actual fears are we resign Exum and Favors on huge long term and/or sign Parker big.

there is no bad trade in DL 's book.

REALISTIC DREAM SCENARIO IS - Grayson turns in to Klay Thompson or Trevor ARIZA
