Sportando: Stanton Kidd expected to sign with the Jazz

Royce O'Neale way way more unproven. Both were important role players for Eurocup teams(Kidd's team won the championship this year)

Royce had a bad SL for a different team and the Jazz still gave him a guaranteed contract.

I think the roster is much better then a year ago when everyone thought this roster would take a step back. I also think that management has a better feel for the roster then a year ago, plus I don’t see him getting a spot over Niang.

I wouldn't be surprised if its a guaranteed contract like Royce's. Before this news came out I would have said I would be surprised to hear Kidd signed a 2 way deal. He was probably on track to start earning serious money overseas.

Not to mention Utah has to buyout his Turkish deal, which counts against the cap. So, a two way should be off the table unless there is some odd loophole for this.

If Kidd and Niang are both making the team then someone else has to go
I'd be surprised.

Both Niang and Kidd could get guaranteed deals and they still cut one, like Bolomboy last year.

Or maybe they are going to find a trade for Burks into one of these teams with cap-space (highly unlikely).

And this sounds just like what people said last year about the Bolomboy and Royce situation.

From watching SL, I'd be surprised if Niang doesn't make the team. They let Jonas go because they feel Niang is ready to step in -- at least that's the way it looks to me.

Looks that way to me too.
To me he was just more expendable since they obviously like Thabo, who can play multiple positions more, and also there’s Crowder, who also plays multiple positions, and more expendable then Udoh since the jazz need a reliable third center behind Favors. To me Jerebko was just the odd man out since he was less needed and not as versatile then others. That’s how I saw it.

Kidd is an athletic freak. Plays above the rim. In Summer League he showed he can hit some tough shots, like the baseline jumper from inside the three. That block he had against Atlanta (which was more of grabbing the ball out of the guy's hands) showed his athleticism. He always seems to be in control even when he's at high speed.

I like Kidd and I get it but I will be really sad if this means we miss out on Georges.

any summer league highlights of this dude?

He's had some cool stuff, only thing I really remember is a tough baseline jumper and he pinned a block against the glass in the Utah summer league.
