To me KK has been a disappointing addition. I had hoped that she would either improve the quality of reporting from the sideline reporter (both during game and pre-recorded), or bring better personality/reporting skill. Unfortunately, the content of her report is not informative or entertaining and she she seems to stumble over the story lots of the time. To me she is a replacement to Steve Brown, but not an upgrade.
That is insanely incorrect. Brown was an absolute stain, and he lived up to his name in that regard.

I mean, she did **** up Grayson Allen's age and bday last night. Allen seemed visibly annoyed.

That said, ****ing Steve Brown. I'm sure the guy is a nice guy, but has no business calling any sports outside of high school.

Everyone who's saying BJack is clueless, like who are you comparing him or his comments to around the NBA? I don't care who the announcer is, they're going to make a few mistakes a game and miss something on the scouting report.

The Jazz are lucky to have Boler. He has great pipes and calls the play-by-play well above average. I'd place him, easily, in the top 10, possibly 5, team play callers.

Yeah, Hot Rod was amazing. I still listen to YouTube videos of him all the time just to get my fix. Again, the Jazz are lucky to have Boler. It's like having Montana, losing him and having Young follow in his foot steps. Y'all are acting like he's Steve Brown.

If Hot Rod is Montana then Boler is Jeff Garcia or Alex Smith.

I compare Boler to guys that get paid to talk about basketball... I probably listen to too many podcasts with smart basketball people and maybe my expectations are too high.

I would much rather listen to someone that loves and knows the game than just some baritone in a suit.

Where are the former coaches in broadcasting?

After I wrote that, admittedly, it's probably an unfair comparison. The point I was trying to make is Boler is pretty damn good. Harpring used to be god awful, but he's at least improved his color commentating over the years. He's much better and tries not to be a homer so much.

Very fair... I get the appeal... if I had my preference it might be too nerdy to be mainstream. I think Locke would drive casual fans crazy talking about points above average created and money ball shots. I like the guy but he has like a 5% approval rating around here.

While Locke has good stats and is prepared, he doesn't have the pipes and tries way too damn hard to come up with catch phrases. His over the top emotions, at times, come across as fake too.

He's not a bad radio play-by-play guy though.

I dont have a problem with Locke, and enjoy his podcast on occasion, but he has a terrible voice for broadcasting. It's too bad, because he is passionate about the team and is obviously better informed about the sport than Bolerjack.

Basically this... it’s less about voice for me... though I get it... he’s kind of awkward and spazzy.

I like Locke and am thankful for his work... he pushes a ton of content and gets mocked a lot. He’s smart about basketball and I’m impressed with the podcast network he built.

Play by play is insanely hard. Most play by play guys arent experts in sports. That's the color guy. I think anyone who speaks well can do learn to do color, but play by play is more of a natural gift. It's why there are so few of them, they are all old, and they all do multiple sports.

Yeah, yeah it is

You realize you're basically saying if you compare one professional with other professionals in the same field then you're already admitting they're not really good to begin with?

That's the most insanely stupid logic I can think of.

"This doctor is great compared to others in his field."

Naos be like, "Well, since you're comparing him to other professionals in his field you're basically admitting he's not great."

Cute reasoning though, dude.

i voted four he sucks my wet sack but has a good voice
Ok, about the good voice statements....

Maybe he has a good voice, maybe he doesn’t. But I get the clear sense that Craig himself thinks he has a good voice, and that irks me. Stop using it as a crutch, dude. Be better. Act like you can’t rely on your voice.

(And it ain’t that good).

You really should leave the deep thoughts to others

This. Most people couldn't come close to making coherent sentences that keep up with live pace. They say some stupid things all the time, because it's incredibly hard to do.

Mute your TV during the next Jazz game, record yourself and do a play-by-play of the Jazz game then share your results.

Who would people consider the best national play by play for NBA? Mike Breen or Kevin Harlan would probably be it for most people. Maybe Ian Eagle.
