Jazz considering Jonas Valanciunas at #3

One of the things I really like about JV is how effective he is without having the ball passed to him much. In other words he is happy to play the garbage man and won't demand plays run to him and won't have much opportunity to turn the ball over.

Like Favors, he fits with everybody for this reason. I think our guys would love playing with him.

I dont think the jazz will select him by any means, but if it between him and kanter i take jv. Mute point because knihts the pick.

and ure talking from a couple of highlights u have seen about jv. its far less realistic arguement than mine about kanter n nowitzki comparison.

Nowitzki werent born the biggest shooter ever. He worked every day.

He told in an interview that, he feels lucky he didnt win a championship early in his careeer, so that pushed him to work more and more to get to his current level.

I never told kanter will be nowitzki for sure, i told he has the potential as much as him, it all depends on working.

Brook lopez is young but he isnt rookie. We can more or less preseee he wont be a highest level center but an allstar. I dnt think JV will even pass brook lopez's current level at all. He has some skills but they rnt comparible to Kanter.

i wonder who would u pick between jimmer and kanter.

This is absurd. I can't believe you want to be taken seriously with this stuff.

JV was effective while he was on the court. He did not get the ball passed to him much. JV makes a living cleaning up around the rim and setting picks. Good luck disputing that. The fact that he averaged @ 8ppg with next to zero post moves or offense run through him at 15 mpg is plenty of evidence of talent. For this reason he can contribute while he develops under Jefferson without taking possessions away from our scorers.

I don't need to get some kind of film cred going to make these points. And your comparisons were not good for the exact reasons I stated. Kanter looks pretty good but his resume is very weak compared to JV. It sucks he got screwed by the NCAA but he did. There is no compelling reason to believe Kanter is any less risky than Jonas, and good evidence to support Valenciunas' commitment to improve.

None of this is intended as a slam on Kanter. I think the hype is a little overblown compared to what he actually is but if he could be as good as Okur he deserves a hard look.

im talking a little bit instinctal outputs rather than scientifical ones ure right, but there are many players in nba from Turkey, and we could never guess they would reach their current level. Okur improved himself a lot, he wasnt rated so highly before he went to NBA. He acknowledges himself, Sloan made him improve a lot. Hedo also was good but noone guessed he could reach to nba finals and have a great performance like 2 yrs ago. And this year, rookie Asik was very good and believe me as much as succesful he was in Turkey, his offensive side was criticized a lot and we couldnt foresee his current performance.

Im not insisting Kanter will be a superstar , but the reason i back him all the time is, he is the most talented turkish player who will ever particiapte in nba, and if Memo and others reached this far he can achieve much more. Thats my belief.

I also like JV but i dont think he is complementary to Favors as much as Kanter. A front court with Favors n JV in future, would be very weak in the offensive end.

The trouble with this statement is you are happy to project Kanter's rise yet in your future Favors and JV cannot develop their offensive game. In both of their cases we are talking about raw potential, and Kanter is considered a polished scorer.

Right? I mean, seriously, only Kanter can get better? Really?

Everyone has different skills, having potential doesnt mean u can improve in every area. Kanter wont be a dwight howard in athletism, but he can improve his shooting or other offensive sides cuz he has potential.

Favors can improve certain stuff, like shooting consistency, but he cant be a nowitzki in shooting, everyone has different skills and differnet potential, i never said only Kanter can get better, but he can be a much better player eventually than JV and Favors.

Favors would easily be the #1 pick in this draft. You are raving.

I love favors but i think ure mixing him with Blake Griffin.
He didnt have an awesome rookie year, he proved us he has good intangibles, very good athlethism, and some other stuff but lets not make him something like Dwight Howard so soon plz.

I didn't. You did in a oddly vague way by saying Kanter won't become DH and JV/DF won't shoot like Dirk.

If you seriously are so high on Kanter that you think he'd get picked over Favors then enjoy your Turkish hash. We don't see the good stuff very often around here.
