Allen and Niang assigned to the Stars

Bradley was drafted at the bottom of the first round as a project. He was 19 years old. I have seen a big improvement in his body and game. I think more people need to be patient and I believe the kid will start getting minutes someday soon.

Allen back with the Stars, this time for an away travel game, which is something I did not think would happen.

I like how people kept comparing Allen to Redick when he shot college 3's over 40% only once out of four. Shamet did it twice out of three and is currently a 39% shooter in the NBA. If DL wanted a shooters, there were definitely better options.

it's not just allen's potential for shooting that got him drafted though. it's playmaking, athleticsm, etc. if they drafted him for defense, then that was always going to be a work in progress. he's a 38% career college 3 point shooter on a massive volume of attempts (while being usually very closely guarded) and probably closer to 39% if you discount his freshman year in which he barely played. And again discounting his freshman year, he averaged almost seven 3 pt attempts per game from his sophomore to senior seasons. 38+% on that much volume is pretty damn good. not to mention an 80+% FT shooter at the college level. that's all the makings of a great to potentially elite shooter. he shot 52% from 3 in preseason on a fair amount of attempts as well when he was getting regular minutes. so far this regular season, his PT has been very sporadic, and he just hasn't had the minutes to get consistency or into a rhythm. shamet has had some really bad shooting games, but he has the luxury of a coach allowing him to play through it w/o having 6 or 7 guys in front of him.

Stars won tonight in Texas. Grayson had 14. It seemed like there was good balance fron Stars and Naz had two blocks. Frank Jackson from Lone Pine had 25 for Texas.

frank jackson had a great game, looked really explosive. grayson had a good all around game but with less scoring (only took 9 shots) compared to last game. PG play is pretty terrible from the stars overall, though. naz and lyles are wild and make some boneheaded turnovers and play with serious tunnel vision. cousins is somewhat more controlled. surprised they're not playing grayson on the ball more like they did in summer league; he's basically lounging in the corner to create spacing most of the time.

I mean, Grayson hasnt really had time to practice with the Stars.

Lone Peak. Lone Pine is the name of the mall after Marty went back in time and ran over one of the twin pines.

I just get the feeling that Grayson will not be here by the end of the season. He's the "first round pick" that the Jazz are going to trade to improve elsewhere. It would make sense that the Jazz aren't letting him be thoroughly scouted which might reduce his value. We just aren't going to give him minutes to shine at this point.

Nah he will get spot minutes here and there. Next year is his time to prove something. He can play a couple positions and will find more time next year when DL knows what he has. I think he is very much part of the long term thinking for now and I doubt he has trade value that moves the needle much. First rounders are like new cars... drive them off the lot and they lose value

^agreed. while i still wish he was drafted somewhere where he'd have PT and a longer leash, the jazz knew that he would have 6 or 7 guys in front of him. still drafting him despite that tells me they have longer term plans for him. trading him now unless it's for an established star (and not someone like otto porter who's a couple tiers below star level) would be stupid. he showed plenty in summer league and preseason and has shown flashes in the regular season as well. there's a reason that multiple teams were trying to trade up above or with the jazz to get him.

Grayson is part of our future. He has all the makings of a cheap, versatile, bench guard for the future. We just have to give him a chance to play.

this. assuming his defense continues to improve, he will be much more valuable than say exum who is grossly overpaid and even neto to some extent (although neto is on a cheap/bargain deal himself) given their differences in athleticism/size.

Thing is we said the same type of things about Exum (He has all the makings of a cheap, versatile, bench guard for the future) except with more praise.

Perhaps a good showing with the Stars will let him out of Quin's doghouse. I saw that Trey Lewis got his first minutes last night.

I don't feel like Allen is in Quin's doghouse. It's just hard to get him minutes at that position right now. Frankly I'd like to see him play over O'Neale sometimes but I'm not sure I can make a strong enough argument for it.

dante was drafted #5 and came in with alot more unwarranted hype than allen. i think it will be easier for allen to become a better defensive player than it will for dante to become a better offensive player. next kobe or penny? people were crazy for saying that ****.
