What's new

With Korver, we...

There was an inbounds play last night where Korver ran past a Favors' screen to the corner, it froze Capella for a second and the defender (I think Green) had to dart out to defend Korver at the 3 point line.

They completely forgot about Favors who had a wide open path to the basket.

As impressive as Korver's shooting is, this is why the stats don't tell half the story - you can't forget about this guy 30 feet in at all times. Jazz can turn an offensive possession into a 4 on 4 whenever they want with Korver on the floor. Korver may not shoot; but Korver's defender isn't going to get a rebound, he isn't going to deflect a pass, he isn't going to help on D.

This opens up the offense for so many other possibilities.

I'm a fan of what Korver does for our system, but I think this was more of a genius move by DL to light a fire under the boys, than anything Korver could have affected alone.

You change the starting lineup to light a fire under the boys, not facilitate a trade.

The trade made us better. Period. We needed shooting and we got an all-time great shooter.

Korver's shooting ability has a gravity that goes far beyond any box scores. The way you can visibly see teams scrambling to keep him covered at all times shows how disruptive he is to opposing defenses. I'm completely loving it, especially having always been a Korver fan. I was upset when we traded him away the last time.

Plus he blocks 3 pters apparently.

How many minutes have Korver and Ingles played together thus far? And how has the team been during those minutes?

They've played 13 minutes together and are -3.8 net rating. Oddly their defensive rating is an elite 78 but offensive rating is 75.

But that's far too small of sample size to draw anything from.

Our 5 man lineups that are most used are all positive except the ones with Royce in them. Korver should help with that. Plus Royce seems to be playing better lately.

are 3-1.

are 57 of 138 from 3 and shooting 41.3% from 3 (despite an awful 8 of 32 last night in the blowout win).

seem much more energetic and confident on the court.

A grain of salt, a grain of salt. But I’m riding this ****ing wave.

It's not like we've had much else to ride this season.

*giggity*

Rubio & Korver click. Haven't practiced hardly yet Ruby is placing blind passes not to where he is, but where he's going to be.

I do think it lit a fire, everyone wants to show they can hit the 3 too. It's contagious like they've said themselves. Korver was an allstar GM addition. 10 jazz players hit a 3 against SA. Has that ever happened? https://www.nba.com/games/20181204/SASUTA#/boxscore

Plays the Rockets and Spurs "schedule eased up."
The Spurs are one of the bottom 8 teams in the NBA.

Since the trade the Jazz have played one team with a positive net rating (Charlotte). Obviously the Rockets are a team with a lot of potential, but they have struggled to start the year.

The December schedule gets tough on Monday when the Jazz play a b2b against the Thunder.

It was a good move. But it’s definitely a minor move on a team that needs more tweaking.

You know nothing about the rockets and Spurs apparently. They both suck right now and both games were in SLC.

Shad gonna shad

Korver gave us a little shot of adrenaline right when we absolutely had to have it. And beyond his play he will be a great influence because of his preparation for the game.
