Using trump’s own logic in 2013, isn’t he to blame for the shut downs of 2018?
Its not a joke if you were planning on getting paid to I dunno pay for your Christmas, or rent or stuff. A lot of people live pay to pay, this is frankly an appalling thing to do to them. This week for example my pay day falls on Tuesday, its unlikely that I will get paid until Thursday of Friday at the earliest, for me its not a hardship but I would imagine for a number of staff at my work, especially the cleaners and kitchen staff who are fairly low paid it could be.
I went through two shutdowns. Essentially a week+ of extra paid vacation. No one was complaining. It was a few years back, but as I recall, it didn't even effect the date I got paid.
These shutdowns are a joke. The government still has many people working (and getting paid). Those off work always get paid after the gov't get funded (essentially paid vacation for gov't employees).

That was dumb **** he said during the campaign that was obviously unrealistic then. Since becoming the President he hasn't been pushing that line nearly as much, and when he has, the times I'm familiar with, he has spun it that they will be paying indirectly based on his most wonderful trade deals and such.So what's Trump's excuse for not being able to get the Mexicans to pay for the Wall as he'd promised?

There's no excuse at this point. No one ever really expected Mexico to pay for the wall.
