2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

After the 2015 draft, Locke said that the Jazz tried like hell to trade up for Porzingis and that he was #1 on their board. I think he said Phil Jackson wanted Hayward and Gobert, which was essentially him saying "kick rocks." After the 2016 draft, he said the Jazz tried to trade back into the first round to draft Brogdon. And he has said in the past to look for the Jazz to acquire players that they had interest in in the past (which is pretty common sense) so I'm sure the Jazz are interested in both. I don't think Porzingis is gettable, and I'm not really sure how he and Gobert would work defensively together, but Brogdon might be if Utah offers a ridiculous contract. Wouldn't be surprised if Milwaukee matches since they're going all in on Giannis and they have the new arena and everything.

We can at least leverage our cap space to give them some heartache. Offer max to Middleton... if he goes back they had to pay full price... offer max or Malcolm and if they match it likely mean no Bledsoe. 4/100-115M is so much damn money and if they think Donte can give them some of what Malcolm does and they think Bledsoe can be retained at a more reasonable price I could see them passing potentially... add in a trade kicker and make it a little poisonous. This is why FA sucks unless you get Lebron or KD... not a ton of value for small markets on non-superstar high demand talent.

He's markedly worse by a huge margin. It would only get worse with more minutes. He isn't a starter.

The numbers don't back this at all and tell an opposite story, but whatever you want to believe.

I don't know if this has been discussed, but it might be a good idea to grab Jeremy Lin. He's playing really well in limited minutes, and the Hawks have no reason to keep him.
I was for it prior to Exum's recent play, I still think next year if the team decides not to pay Rubio that Lin would be a great backup option for Exum/excellent 6th man

Lin is better than Exum. If we get Lin and let Ricky go Lin should be starting.

Considering our PG situation and need for a guy who can score, this would seem to work pretty well. He is an expiring so he really doesn't hurt our summer ideas. Atlanta has the patience to give Bradley some playing time to see if he could be valuable.

Seems silly to give up assets for Jeremy Lin.

The Jazz are about to play the easiest stretch of the season, they can manage and incorporating a new player mid-season is difficult.

I like Lin but I prefer Neto because of contract and the fact you can move him in and out of the rotation without complaint. I think Neto could fetch a decent second from a team like Orlando or Phoenix if we wanted to move him.

I think only way we trade for Lin is if Ricky or Exum suffered a season ending injury. If we let Ricky walk having Lin on the BAE would be a good option. Have Exum/Lin/Neto/Ingles cover pg duties.
