For the record, I was adamant that DM not play pg, as I was afraid it would detract from his aggressiveness, but I see now I was wrong.
Just 10 games ago this statement would have been almost absurd. With the way Exum's been playing lately and the way Donovan has looked when playing point guard I really don't want to spend 14-16 million a year to bring Rubio back. That money could be better used elsewhere.
Yeah he's even more aggressive now with the ball in his hands more. He just sucks in so much defense too which is good for the team as other guys are more open and he's a really good passer. For the record, I was adamant that DM not play pg, as I was afraid it would detract from his aggressiveness, but I see now I was wrong.

Yup. Even Van Gundy was praising DM's passing as well. It really caught his eyes. He even said some of his passes should be counted as assists even though the receiver missed the shot I think because just how good the passing was.He created a ton of wide open threes tonight.

I think it's like they've got Rubio for 1 more year, already paying for him, so they're kinda forced to use him. Remember that we got Rubio just before DM blew up last year. This isn't rocket science. He's a very good ball handler and passer. And because of his scoring prowess, defenses have to commit to him leaving guys open- and he'll find them. The basketball gods finally forced Snyder's hand. Just wish those three dudes would miss about a month for sample size, so Snyder simply wouldn't be able to deny that Mitchell should be full time lead guard.
This is about competition level more than a positional change.
Not quite...
Exum is shooting 30.5% from 3's this year. O'Neal is shooting 38.6%. It's simple, I'd rather have a better 3pt shooter on the floor. Defensively I think they're pretty much comparable.
Also I'd much prefer DM having the ball in his hand more.
They where very bad defensively tonight. It's a small sample size to be sure, but the Lakers aren't bad defensively. Mitchell was guarded by Ball, Hart and a bit from KCP and put up big numbers.
Does Mitchell want to play PG?
I'm just sick of watching Rubio bricking 3's. That's my main frustration.
Yeah but Mitchell gives you attack at the rim, Rubio doesn't.Mitchell is shooting 32.6% from 3 this season.
Rubio is shooting 33.7%.
