What's new

How interesting is this: Locke's thought from NY

It's gamesmanship time. Gotta get it out there that he's focused on Kanter. Blood in the water to juice deals if you ask me.

It would figure that once I'm leaning Knight more than I ever have that the Jazz would grab Kanter.

I won't be upset with either. Just make the most of the pick.

Oh boy... just when I thought I've made peace with Jazz picking Knight..

- Roller-coaster continues. Here we go again!!!

Smoke Screen??? Holy Cow! I was starting to be set on knight but this changes things! Jimmer at 12 now becomes more of a reality!! ... For better or for worse- You decide!

Tend to agree with NUMBERICA, weak draft does it matter, Knight or Kanter. Both seem that they play and add to the Jazz.

I do think you cannot have enough bigs and Kanter can play the 5. Finaly, a reason to get rid of FEZ!! Locke did mention that you play Harris and Knight, starter/sub respectively, for a year. Then trade Harris in the final year of his contract (2012-2013) and turn the reins over to Knight. Maybe get another good draft pick for Harris.

If you consider using two lottery picks to get unathletic players not interested in playing defense better, then this is the best-case scenario.

I'm not sure we can count out Kanter on the defensive end quite yet. I saw Jimmer on ESPN's PPI 2 days ago and he seemed really sincere that he wants to prove to people he can play defense in the NBA. I really do think 3 years down the road jimmer is going to be a solid pro point gaurd! Also, i think Jimmer is much more athletic than people give him credit for. It's neat that he finished 3rd in the agility testing, which was ahead of Brandon Knight and Walker. Not sure about how athletic Kanter is, but he does seem more so than boozer, and he is taller and hopefully not so set on personal pretense! ha.

I really like the idea of drafting Kanter and hoping that Jimmer is avble at 12 (if so) then move the 12th pick and Millsap for Granger and the 15.

Dude, what do you expect him to say? Are we all just suppose to believe Jimmer put 0 effort into defense his last year in college? The guy just flat out sucks at defense. He will improve, but he will always be a liability on defense. PG is by far the hardest position to guard in the NBA. PG's who are considered good college defenders come into the NBA and struggle to stay in front of their man.

My heart says Jimmer, my head says Knight.

I'd take Kanter & Jimmer though. Jimmer just seems to be a very good fit for Utah. He'll work his butt off to get better and be a successful PG in this league. His shooting will make it easier IMO.

And also I just think there is no way Jimmer will ever leave for another team if we do pick him.

I still like my trade idea. Draft Kanter, hope Jimmers there at 12 then package him and Millsap for Granger and the 15th pick. Utah has an amazing starting 5 Harris, Hayward, Granger, Favors, Jefferson with a decent bench Miles, Singleton, Kanter. Really pretty deep except for PG, which maybe Utah could buy a pick from the Bulls and go after Nolon Smith or Reggie Jackson.

Yeah not a bad trade actually.

Wonder if Pacers will go for it though.. seems like you're just swapping Millsap and Granger which isn't much..

It's illegal for PG's to play any defense, so I don't see why you wouldn't get a PG that's really good on the offensive end. There's one PG in the entire league who makes a difference on defense - Rondo.

Didn't Locke also feel we were going to take Xavier Henry?

How'd that work out?

I also believe there was some talk about taking Babbit.

How'd that work out?

I don't think I ever heard them talk about the Jazz drafting Hayward.

Who does Hayward play for right now?

And how does he "feel" this? I don't get it. The Jazz are located on the other side of the country. Just because a few Turks visiting the nation's dump and yelled @ Locke doesn't mean that we're taking Kanter.

The feeling he's getting is what other teams are starting to say, and I can guarantee you it's their own opinions, not what they're hearing out of the Jazz brass, because the Jazz brass aren't saying anything.

I assume it's also based on the warm fuzzy things Kanter is saying and Knight's noncommittal attitude (as I read today's quotes).

I still haven't decided who I WANTout of the two. I don't think I can know, to be honest. There's just not enough of a body of work with Kanter for me to say. Hopefully workouts, interviews and background checks make KOC more qualified to make that call than I feel.

That said, I decided this morning that I think the Jazz will take Knight. Good upside, better known skills and weaknesses, and I figured they were gaga over his 4.3 HS GPA and the "he should be interviewing us" comments. If Locke's right, I guess I misread the Jazz. Won't be the first time.

Cant remember which Jazz FO type said it, but we apparently acquired a lot more game footage of him than people think is available. He did play professionally and also has played with his national team every year for the last few.
