How interesting is this: Locke's thought from NY

I can still see Minny take Kanter first, and cleveland would hope that we pick up knight because they want Williams. How come I haven't heard any reports on williams? D:

What better guy to throw chum for the sharks than Mr. Yesman? This could be seen from a mile away.

PG is by far the hardest position to guard in the NBA. PG's who are considered good college defenders come into the NBA and struggle to stay in front of their man.

Screw "good college defenders" 80% of the PG's in the league can't stay in front of their opposite, especially with the contrasting styles. DWill just does crossover after crossover until they're unbalanced and gets by his guy....and uses size and muscle when necessary. DRose is just a freak and no PG in the league can guard him....even Rondo couldn't, and I consider him one of the best PG defenders.

If any position is able to lack on defense, it's PG. You funnel the star PG's to your bigs and hope you can contain.

People who want Singleton over Jimmer because he can play better defense are stealing from Peter to pay Paul. Either way you have to develop the kid. You're counting on a guy to work on his shooting, and Singleton is horrid when compared to other lotto picks. I'm not saying we should take Jimmer over a defensive guy, but for craps sake, don't act like it's a massive gap between the two.

Consider JJ Barea and his impact on the Lakers and the Heat. Maybe its time to concentrate some effort (draft expenditures, acquisitions) who can guard the 1...

Tend to agree with NUMBERICA, weak draft does it matter, Knight or Kanter. Both seem that they play and add to the Jazz.

I do think you cannot have enough bigs and Kanter can play the 5. Finaly, a reason to get rid of FEZ!! Locke did mention that you play Harris and Knight, starter/sub respectively, for a year. Then trade Harris in the final year of his contract (2012-2013) and turn the reins over to Knight. Maybe get another good draft pick for Harris.

Or do the same for Jefferson or Millsap if we draft Kanter.

I don't think using JJ as an example really works. JJ had to guard the 1's from the Lakers and the Heat. I would say below average PG's by today's standards.
Fisher/Blake and Chalmers/Bibby/Miller.........I bet even Jimmer and could guard these guys. 4 of those guys are over 30.

Didn't Locke also feel we were going to take Xavier Henry?

How'd that work out?

I also believe there was some talk about taking Babbit.

How'd that work out?

I don't think I ever heard them talk about the Jazz drafting Hayward.

Who does Hayward play for right now?

And how does he "feel" this? I don't get it. The Jazz are located on the other side of the country. Just because a few Turks visiting the nation's dump and yelled @ Locke doesn't mean that we're taking Kanter.

Honestly Hayward sucked more than both those guys to begin the season. Henry got hurt and Babbit had much more talented wings in front of him on the depth chart. Hayward benefited from being able to play the entire season, much out of necessity rather than time earned.

I hope the Jazz take Kanter, Irving, or Williams. Any of these three and I will be happy. It seems to me if we want to take Knight we could move back 2 spots.

Cant remember which Jazz FO type said it, but we apparently acquired a lot more game footage of him than people think is available. He did play professionally and also has played with his national team every year for the last few.
It was Perrin. HE said they had footage of Kanter going back to age 15.

I agree one hundred percent. I would be disappointed if the Jazz took Knight at 3. I don't think any of the PGs are worth the 3rd pick except Irving.

That's my point...I usually have an opinion (and occasionally they are right) but this time it's tough with so little to go on with Kanter. I didn't know about the extra tape specifically, but I know they have more decision-making material than I do. Hope they use it well.

Yes, Rigby mentioned they've watched tape dating back to Kanter at age 15. We all should know the Jazz have done the homework. Everyone has, especially with a draft like this.

Locke is reasonably well connected and is constantly working his connections. He may be wrong but he's not just pulling this out of his arse.
