Can We Trade for Lou Williams?

Professional scorer. I still remember when CJ Miles, Monta Ellis, Martell Webster, and Lou Williams all came out in the draft straight from HS. I always wondered who would be the best player of the bunch. For a while it was Monta and then... Martell was the highest pick and looked great for moments and then... CJ almost turned a corner and then...

But Lou William's has officially won the battle imho. Good for him. It would be great to have him off the Bench yo.

0% chance they'd trade him to us
Maybe if West is demented enough, he can mistake Jazz and utahjazzz for credible people and we can do Exum/Bradley for Williams/Beverley.

Honestly, though, if there were a way to trade Exum for Williams I’d totally do it. If no other trade was happening, I’d send along our draft pick. It would allow us to do whatever it is we’re doing this summer by not affecting (actually helping) the cap, and we’d have a guy on a great contract for a couple years.

I would love Sweet Lou, dude is a certified baller. I think it was a Zach Lowe podcast that I remember who was talking about Lou Williams, they were saying that despite Tobias Harris and Gallo being considered better players, many people around the Clips organisation thought Lou Williams was the most important player for them since you could lose one of Harris or Gallo and the other one just filled their role, while if they lost Lou Will they'd be screwed.

If the Jazz wanted Lou Williams, the time would’ve been at the deadline a few years ago when the Lakers traded him to Houston. Buy low - sell high. Always look for the superstar or the value deal. That’s how small market teams thrive. Not by overpaying for everyone they acquire. Thankfully, the Korver deal looks like a steal even though we had to give up Burks to get him.

I'd love too. IMO he's exactly what our roster needs. He can create his own shot and he can score. And those are the two things this current Jazz team needs. I know he's not a great defender but for what we need he doesn't have to be.

I don't think that the Clippers would be opposed to trading him either. They have a bunch of guards. Many of them are young and need time to develop (SGA, Robinson, Thornwell, etc). And Jerry West wants to be a big baller in 2019 free agency so moving a 3 year contract for expirings is possible. He might see it as a more potential money I have to work with the better type of scenario.

The problem is that the only logical trade scenario worth thinking about for both sides that I can find is Lou Will plus some salary filler for Derrick Favors.

The Jazz go...

Gobert/Udoh
Crowder/Oneale/Sef/Niang
Ingles/Korver/Oneale/Sef
Mitchell/Lou Will/O'neale
Rubio/Exum

This would vastly improve our offense. Spacing would be much better. Quin could mix and match a lot of different lineups. And honestly I don't think that our defense would drop off THAT much from this trade. Ekpe is underrated on D. We would likely need another big from another trade or FA tho.

The Clippers get a starting Center which is something that they don't currently have. Allowing Harrell to come off the bench (where he's more effective) at all times. They also get more flexibility this summer because Favors is expiring. They can keep him or use the money elsewhere. And they free up minutes for their young guards.

Not sure the Clips want to move him but Lou for Sef’s expiring and Bradley (their frontcourt stinks) could make some sense.

Rubio-Exum
Mitchell-Williams-O’Neale
Ingles-Korver
Favors-Crowder
Gobert

Our core 10 come playoff time. Pretty sick.
