2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

The only good thing about all the people moving into Utah is to help alleviate the Mormon dominance in this state
Eh, I kinda like the Mormons. Low crime and safety are pretty cool. I think that a lot of what people like about Utah is actually due in large part to the Mormons.

Would suck if Utah turned into California without the good weather or something after all these ****ers move in.

The Mormons around me are mostly nice helpful people who leave me alone if I want them too. I can't think of anything negative that they do to me.

I can still get as drunk and high as I want whenever I want.

Its because of the economy and business friendly tax structure. Utah is consistently number 1 or at the top of the list of best states to start a business. Which translates to jobs, a better life, opportunities, etc.. Thats why people are flocking to Utah.

Weird, why that is. Could be that Utah is mostly a conservative state and not a socialist tax riddled leftist hell hole?

Sorry, I know this isnt the place for it. But I couldn't resist the opportunity to point out the reason why Utah is growing the way it is.

Well, as far as income taxes, Utah is 29th, worse that mostly liberal Washington (but substantially better than most East Coast states), but the regulatory climate for businesses is excellent in Utah. Which is great for the economy, but the downfall is huge growth. With the limited freeway system and the growth the state is seeing, Utahns are going to have ****** commutes and air quality in the future. And, from my own experience job hunting, Utah wages are not good. It is the reason I moved out of the State. I can see why businesses would want to be in Utah. Lots of qualified people willing to take less money to stay in the "promise land".

Such an easy target. Also trendy in Utah if you're not LDS. I see it every day at work.

I've got a complicated relationship with the LDSaints. they bullied the hell out of me as a kid.

I generally like them but hate their church. And i think they (like any large group) get nicer the more outnumbered they are. California Mormons are super chill

Washington is super weird-really progressive with a strong social safety net, but the most regressive taxes in the union. I'm moving there for work, but the place confuses the hell out of me.

Fair enough. I had my own issues with the church when I was kid..... Of course I had issues with everyone and everything when I was a kid.

The coastal part of WA is very progressive, while the inside is very conservative. Maybe that's why.

If Conley really doesn't want to play here does that impact the Jazz pursuit of him at all?

100% percent true. From personal experience, the same job at the same organization level pays 30% more in a state and city with a similar cost of living.
I think a higher education rate and people wanting to stay here influence that significantly. There are some exceptions. I have lot of friends who (though we're all in the same general field) went into different specialties and most of them can't get back to Utah. For me, the specific field I did doesn't have a lot of LDS people going into it, so Utah was wide open.
