2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

I bet quin and DL wish there was a clone of Ricky they could have traded for.

Bring Ricky off the bench so Ricky can rest.
A Ricky on court at all times.

he is 6‘7” PG with great athleticism who can provide swithchabliity on defense
Please tell me how Satoransky is gettable. He's restricted. Washington just cleared cap space by getting rid of Porter Jr. There's virtually ZERO chance of them picking up Jabari's option.

So you're Dennis Lindsey. Do you want renounce the rights to Favors and Ricky to clear cap space to make an offer to Satoransky. How much do you put on the offer sheet? And whats your plan when WA matches? You now can only sign players up to the cap. And you dont have the full MLE anymore. Just not gonna happen.

I sure would love to get jerami grant somehow

They won't pick up Jabari's option ,sure. But they've still got both Ariza and Portis that they'd want to extend. Given that they gave up Porter, it's a fact that keeping both these guys will be their priorities over Satoransky, who won't be anything more than a backcourt reserve as long as they hold on to the Wall/Beal duo. That's all under the assumption of them not signing any additional players to fix their weaknesses in the front court. So I'd say we have a fairly decent chance.

And even if WAS is crazy enough to match our offer sheet, we can still resign Rubio cuz he's an expiring, not TO. There's nothing we need to renounce here. Favs is a different story though. But I'm sure DL has plans on him as well. He needs to.

What are our options when it comes to trading for a max player this summer? Who do we think is realistically available and what will it take in trade?

Kevin Love.
Danilo Gallinari.
John Wall.

Conley is sucking tonight... we are validated... I hope he sucks the rest of the season and has no trade value to punish the dumbass Grizz.
We should thank him for not wanting to come to Utah. If he did I'm afraid DL might've really pulled the trigger and gotten us stuck in a bad spot.

Pity we couldn't add more offense. Our old dudes Korver and Ingles have to step up in the postseason or games will be hard to watch and win.

However we preserved the cap space and flexibility and there are more guys to sign or trade for in the off-season.

He shot 4-15 and ended with 15 pts and 7 assists. We can get that from Ricky at less than half the cost.

Plus, losing Favors would have been a huge loss. He's really important to our 2nd unit.

Here's the rest of the post trade deadline interview talking points template...

- Just want to start by saying how stressful of a time of year this is. We're talking about real people, with real families, whose lives are put on hold and want to acknowledge the stress they experience as their names are in headlines, and want to recognize them for the professional manner in which they handle themselves.

- Look, it's my job to improve the team and I've always gotta be looking at every scenario that accommodates that. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't, and sometimes we don't feel we're getting equal value in return. There are hard decisions, but overall we really like our guys. You look at what we did last year ... [drop some sentiments], you look at how far we've come this year [more sentiments] and the progress we've made and the terrific impact [talk about Rudy and Donovan].

- When we look at the advanced stats, we find [insert some really positive stat that shows how good this group is].

The inconvenience is covered in the pay check.

I'm not upset about no deal being made, but I really really do not understand why the **** Memphis didn't move Conley.
We wouldn't pay the price. Hes under contract and they will shop him again in July.

Also, do you remember the Tyreke Evans situation?

So no trades.... DL has done a GREAT job as GM. But this is the biggest L he has taken in a long time. Nothing worthwhile is going to be available to us this summer in free agency. This was the time to make a move. Whether it was to improve the team now or punt an opportunity down the road by picking up an asset.

Standing pat and re-signing Favors and Rubio this summer gets us absolutely nowhere. But it seems like that's where we are heading. ****
Sums it up perfectly.

The L we took today may have greater consequences in a few years time.

I consider myself an Exum Hive Hater, but we got to put some respect on what Exum can do. DL was smart to value him.

I don't think he's some future star, but he can make a leap.
You.
Respecting Exums game..

Utah needs to make a splash this up-coming offseason. The FO has to demonstrate to Gobert and Mitchell we can build around them. If not, we run a huge risk of losing them.

Agreed. DL has put a HUGE amount of pressure on himself this offseason simply because he refused to "overpay".

With DM on his rookie deal, THIS IS THE TIME YOU CAN AFFORD TO OVERPAY!

Due to the confidence that the Jazz have in Dante i think that when he is healthy they should put Dante as a starter and play 30-35 min. It´s clear you don´t want to be a mediocre team 5-8 R.S and first round or second as a miracle, and with Ricky that is the furthest goal ( as you always say). So if you want to develope Dante , i think that´s the next step
100%.

And If the Jazz play Rubio just to get him his next contract, well we deserve everything we get after that.

The Dante project may be the worst kind of fail... Fultz was traded today... they cut bait and got a minimal return. It was a fast fail... spent big draft capital but that's okay.

We have invested so much in Dante... then used draft capital for seemingly stop gap options in Hill and Rubio while he developed. It is obviously not all his fault, but continuing to double down can prove costly. We had a great excuse to get out of the project today (maybe who knows Grizz may have asked for more) and bet again.

It better work... there is almost no way it is a profitable en-devour based on sunk costs... but from here on out he better be worth his contract at least.
Those "stop gap" options were for Hayward, not for Exum, dont try an rewrite history.
