Royce is Clicking

The last couple of weeks he has been arguably our most improved player. What is it that clicked for him? He has been far more confident with his shot, which makes me think the coaches have really been encouraging him to shoot when open. His handles have looked much better also.

I remember last year his defense completed a huge comeback win against the Spurs, and I thought he was gonna be a super solid contributor on a really good team.

We’ve seen every version of Royce at some point since then. So I need a bit more consistency before I buy it completely. But he’s looked great lately, and seems committed to improving which is great. He didn’t even step out of bounds when he went baseline yesterday.

Needs to get those minutes above 18, and 3pt shots over 1.8 per game. I hope we see him more in different lineups and at different positions. He intrigues me more than Dante at this point. (Though hopefully both become awesome, because then we could defend any team in the league.)

Mike smith said something during the broadcast last night about gettting reps.
Maybe having burks gone plus thabo and exum being hurt have allowed Royce to get more reps in practice and more minutes in game. Sometimes having too many guys deserving a small amount of minutes can be a bad thing for some players and tightening up the rotation can help some players. Maybe Royce is one of those players that it helped.

unrelated related note. did you know that tom brady didn't start until his junior year of college, and was taken in the sixth round of the draft which is basically about the same thing as late second round in the nba. late bloomers happen. here's hoping.

His game isn't different to before. He's shooting the 3 better thats it. Hes 3 and d!!!

He is not only shooting 3s better. He is finishing at the rim better. Two most desirable shots in the NBA. 53% from 2pt attempt FG% and 43% 3pt attempt FG% is elite. I doubt he is that good but none the less that is elite.

He might have Ingles+ potential.

This and only this is how you built a sustainable and elite organization and team. You turn, in what appear no values asset, into solid rotation/starter. For something that appears an average player you turn it into a gem (Mitchell, Gobert).

The Jazz will continue their success as long they have stories like Ingles, Royce, Gobert, Mitchell, and yes Hayward, Hill, and Hood included. Those that left had their career years here.

Royce has always been my dude. Since we picked him up I was big on him. Love to see him with just the right amount of minutes so he can shine but at the same time not too many minutes so he gets overwhelmed and burnt out.

Yea, you could learn a thing or two.

Have some class and decency on here without making insults.
