Do the Jazz develop prospects?

Bemoaning coaching technique at this point is ridiculous.

Why don't you wait to see what Ty actually does before criticizing?

I am saying that the young guys need at least 20 min a game. I think that Kanter>Jefferson in two years. He has the same offensive game with an outside shot and his is in much better shape and his endurance is much better than Jeffersons.

Kanter's never played more then 30+plus games against high schoolers and Jefferson played NBA basketball at a high level for 5-seasons straight. physically he looks better we'll see how his body holds up in the NBA
Kanter better then a 20 and 10 guy so your calling Kanter pretty much an all-star in 2yrs thats very optimistic i hope your right.

But I do agree 20min a game minimum for Kanter and Favors. does anyone think their might be a problem with them playing on the court together?

If Paul can slide to sf for 7 to 10 min per game, as I've been saying for months, then there should be pt for everybody this season. The season after, however..... Still, I'm a fan of losing al and giving Favors and Kanter more time. Al's trade should be for a wing and thus allow Paul to play 100% pf.

One of the popular myths rises from the dust. For where we have drafted and the caliber of teams we have had, the rookies have had plenty of PT. In fact, Sloan played rookies a lot more minutes that he was given credit for.

Read what I wrote. Never said Sloan didn't play rookies. I said Sloan doesn't play prospects. I even stated know the difference between the 2.

NBA ready players Sloan played. Not the players that needed experience.

So we have 96 minutes between the PF and Center position.

Jefferson: 35 minutes last year
Millsap: 34 minutes last year

That leaves 26 minutes between Kanter, Favors and Okur? Do you guys honestly think that is ok?

Lets say Millsap can play 10 minutes per game at the SF position like some people think he can (I personally don't think he can consistently do that each game).

That gives 36 minutes between 3 players.

So we are going to give 12 minutes each to Kanter, Favors and Okur............ Great idea! Lets just have them ride the bench. That will totally develop them.

Lets also just say Okur never comes back and his career really is over. so that will give Favors and Kanter 18 minutes a game each....... Really? Its a joke.

And if your a person who says we can lower Millsaps minutes. Well your just going to lower his trade value more than it is. We might as well trade him now while his trade value is high. His trade value won't be going up after next year.

Would anyone care to guess how much Stockton played in his first two seasons?

Stockton wasn't a prospect that needed tons of experience like I am talking about.

18 minutes his first year.

23 his 2nd year.

I am not arguing how much you should play rookies. I am arguing how much you show play players with little experience but a lot of talent.

I believe Millsap played in all 82 games as a rookie.

All this argument over minutes also assumes all players will play in all 82 games. That ain't gonna happen. Few players play in all 82. And most teams have 1-2 guys go down with significant injuries. Jazz can't count on Okur for any minutes. Kanter is extremely raw, as is Favors.

I'd say it's realistic to expect Jefferson to play 34 and Millsap to get 30. Let's say Favors gets 25. That leaves 7 mins for Kanter. Give him more by sliding Millsap to PF for 8 mins/per. If Okur can contribute, that's a bonus. But since it's his last season under contract, I wouldn't give him PT over anyone else. Use him if Favors or Kanter get into foul trouble. Use him if as the other bigs miss games with injuries. I'd even cut starter minutes on back-to-backs. There are ways to deal with a crowded situation for one season until the rotation sorts itself out.

I don't now about you, but I'm of the opinion that every rookie is a prospect that needs experience. The NBA is a completely different game, it's not easy for rookies to start playing 30 minutes a game and adapt well. Let the coaches do what the coaches do, have a little trust in them....geez man.
