ESPN article on Rudy Gobert's underrated offensive impact

Really good article.

More ammunition for when I argue with the Rudy Gobert ignorance out there.

Already sent the link to the article to one of my ignorant co workers.

And he's getting better. I was going to make a thread last night regarding Rudy's ceiling.

Thanks for posting, Jingled. Great read. Not only the screen assists, but the spacing he creates that Quin mentioned. So Lindsey says he's the most important player on offense. I guess I can believe that since no one can really create their own shot.

Remember when he nailed that 20 footer at the top of the key? I don't think that's the last time we'll see **** like that.
He has good form, and I'm fine with him taking that when he's wide open. I was at the San Antonio game a year ago that made our 10th straight and he hit a jumper in crunch time down the stretch.

Yep. Wasn't the first time either.

If I had to guess I would say he has made about 5 jumpers further out than the free throw line in his career. I would guess 8 or 9 attempts
I have no idea though.

To be certain, I don't think he either can or should become a jump-shooter, but I think having that wrinkle could be very useful.

I agree.
I don't really want him to develop that shot too much. I mean it would be nice when he is WIDE OPEN for him to take and make it but, like the article says, his rim running is what terrifies defenses and creates space for our shooters. Plus his offensive rebounding.

He just needs to keep doing what he is doing. And the jazz need to add one more scoring piece to the puzzle.

That's where a stretch 4 could come into play. You need a bit of range on both the frontcourt and backcourt, and right now we really don't have much of it with our bigs.
Adding some range to compliment Rudy's game at the rim would go miles imo.
