Very complimentary article on Utah's Deron Williams' trade and draft.
If only Utah treated Deron right when they traded him (e.g., him not hearing it first from ESPN), then they could re-sign him in a year with this fantastic young core and he could win a Championship. Deron Williams, Alec Burks, Gordon Hayward, Derrick Favors, Enes Kanter could be an impressive starting five, if everyone develops right. I'll keep dreaming about it.

I don't feel bad for Deron. The Jazz did it right, NJ is the one that leaked the trade. If Deron has a problem with how the trade was handled, look at NJ.

I'm liking the character and the culture that's starting to develop within the team..

You hear about Hayward, Evans, even Jefferson working hard in the off-season.. that kind of stuff.

Nobody's above the team.

Shouting angrily to your team-mates in a game is a no-no for me...

Bringing Deron back would be "awwwwwkwarddddd" IMO

Don't agree with OKC comparison.... yet. Who is going to be the Kevin Durant of this group?

Hayward? Burks? Doubtful.

The Jazz still need a scoring wing imo.

I don't think we need a "Durant" per se. I think we could have, by far, the more complimentary players. I see taking a couple years to get these young guys experienced, stronger, more savvy, and then bringing in a top FA veteran to provide the glue and make a real contending run.

So will he be injured when the Nets come to play? Just curious why your position is so strong on Deron "not stepping inside SLC again?"

i ment, as a jazz player again.

Because even if it wasnt direct, he was the reason for Sloan's retire. If you ask me, i would say, it was time for Sloan's retirement, and Deron should be given more responsibility than that, but the ending scenario wouldnt have been like this.

Looking at past champions would conflict with that.

Dallas - Dirk (not really a wing but a hybrid F/C who plays a lot like a wing and can create his own shot from anywhere)
Lakers - Kobe
Boston - Allen, Pierce
SA - Ginobili Parker
Miami - Wade
Detroit - Billups Hamilton

This should probably be who the Jazz should be dangling Millsap/Jefferson/Okur/Harris/GSW pick for.

Good post. I just don't see many players in the NBA that are as good as KD. I think we'll have a good enough depth of players, in a couple years, to make a serious run with a FA veteran a step below. Kool-Aid?? maybe.

Oh for goodness sake, try to keep up with some figurative language......

Who's to say Utah would be open to resigning D-Will even if he wanted to return? The day of the trade I remember Bolerjack commenting that several sources "within" the orginization felt as if D-Will was the type of guy who was going to go on to play for several more teams/coaches during the course of his career. Not exactly a ringing endorsement from the orginization.

It's funny that most of us (myself included) still wonder just how much D-Will soured on Utah when in fact, it may have been Utah that was much more unhappy with him.

They would sign him. They would be dumb not too. And to who was asking who our Durant is. It has to be Favors. If we are ever to actually truly contend, he will have to become a perennial All-Star/1st team guy.

I think the point was that we need a dominant wing player in order to contend. I agree.
