What's new

Non jazz 2019 playoff discussion.

Harden is the biggest flopper in the history of the league and I can’t stand Houston's style, but those are clearly fouls on Golden State. You need to give the shooter room to come down. Those closeouts are going to destroy’s someone’s ankle. Remember when Drose did what Klay was doing to Deron and it ruined that season?

Overall, NBA officiating has steadily gotten worse in my lifetime. I feel like the traveling or palming rule is rarely enforced and it leads to so many other issues related to fouls. You wouldn’t be whining about a bad charge or block call if the initial traveling/palming call were called. Officials also let players run their mouths way too much. To me, there shouldn’t be any communication between players and officials. I’m fine with star players sitting out a few games at the start of the season adjusting to technical foul rules. I think half a season of strict technical foul calls would end the nonstop whining we see on a nightly basis.

The call at the end of the game was a good non call as Harden kicked out his legs and flopped and Paul just barrelled into Klay. That said, HOU got screwed on a bunch of other calls.

Love all the crying as now HOU knows what it feels like to every team that has to put up with their trash.

"I mean, I just want a fair chance, man," said Harden, who scored 35 points but was 9-of-28 from the floor and 4-of-16 from behind the 3-point line. "Call the game how it's supposed to be called, and that's it. And I'll live with the results."

If the game was called how it was supposed to be called Harden wouldn't be in the NBA.

Hard to ref games when both teams are loaded with floppers and cry babies

Not if refs start on game 1 of the regular season actually enforcing the NBA’s own rules. A few years ago the NBA made stricter rules against flopping and distracting emotional displays against officials. Yet, the only times I’ve seen these rules enforced, have been against players like Neto, not Paul, Harden, or Green.

I don’t buy into the guise of, “fans pay to watch stars play, so let’s permit them to play by a different set of rules so they can get away with murder” nonsense. Fans pay to watch good basketball and I’ve never been more disgusted by players flopping and temper tantrums than right now.

If these players were given technical fouls for flopping and throwing temper tantrums beginning on game 1 of the regular season, things would change quickly. After a few stars like Paul and Green sit out a few games in the first few weeks of the season because of their technical fouls, by mid season I bet 99 percent of the flopping and temper tantrums would cease to exist. Hell, actually enforcing rules against traveling, palming, flopping, and temper tantrums would revolutionize the NBA right now... for the better.

I have an idea... maybe don’t hear your whole game after trying to trick officials... maybe just try to make shots instead of draw fouls.

Harden just wanting a fair shot is sooooooo effing laughable. Poor guy. Guys play defense with their hands tied around they damn back so that we can’t swing his arms up over their shoulders and get calls. I, just like Rudy, wish our guys got some benefit of the doubt in our series but I guess only stars get that.

This is great... nba can over react and make more rules that give harden “fair” advantages. “No player is allowed to breathe or exist within 15 feet of anyone with a beard or 13 free throws are awarded”.

The nba should expect this **** after allowing the guy to gather for 25 steps on his patented move... but if a post player drags they pivot foot an inch while being shoved it’s a travel every time. Make guys play the way they should and stop rewarding the bull ****.

First thing should be to eliminate the charge and replace it with some dislodging rule that prevents guys from just lowering their shoulder and going through guys. The fact that guys jump in front of people and then act like a Mack truck hit them has always been so dumb.

Then just write a rule about foul seeking. If guys do certain things with the only purpose to draw a foul you just don’t have to call it... if guys are known to flop they don’t get the benefit of the doubt.

Not a big warriors fan but love seeing the boy that cried wolf not get every ****ing call... cry me a river rockets fans.

I'm on board with these.

If they assessed a foul for flops where there is definitely no foul, we might have a solution. If a guy falls to the floor, fine. If he throws his body around and yells at a ref that he was fouled, a simple review the next stoppage of play could result in a foul being assessed.

If there is no real time penalty for flopping (like there is in soccer where you get a yellow card for "dive"), it's only going to get worse. I'm also a soccer fan and I have noticed that "diving" or flopping in the box has happened less since they established the yellow card for "diving" rule.
