Listen to this guy interview and tell me the Jazz aren't tempted to draft him.

Liked what I saw in those videos a lot. Really good athleticism for his size and imo, looking at his body, a lot of room to get even better.

That said, his rebounding numbers and blocks sort of blow for someone with that size. His 3 pt % is also pretty meh considering it’s the college 3 and he had years to improve on it.

The kid is only 18. I think he should be the priority.

Our off-season can take one of 6 paths (in order of my preference):

#1 - move up in 1st round, strike big in free agency (best option)

#2 - stay put in draft, strike big in free agency

#3 - move out of 1st round, strike big in free agency

#4 - move up in 1st round, strike out in free agency (better than #2 or #4)

#5 - stay put in draft, strike out in free agency (most likely)

#6 - move out of 1st round, strike out in free agency (absolute morale killer)

If we trade up in the draft, there is positive momentum no matter what we do in the off-season. If we fail in free agency, at least we maximized the draft. Based on our history, it is more likely that we strike out in free agency than strike big in free agency. I think we should trade up if we can and we should target this guy.

There is going to be so much wheeling and dealing in this draft. Because this draft has a reputation as a "weak draft", screw it, let's try to trade up and get Doumboya, Rui or Clarke.

This is exactly the type of “swing for the fences” move that I prefer. . . but how do the Jazz possibly move up far enough to get him? I’m afraid he’s going to be picked too high for the Jazz to realistically pull off a trade up.

Potential Trade Up Possibilities:

#9 - Washington - if we took Mahinmi's $16 million expiring contract. To take Crabbe's $18 million expiring deal, Brooklyn gave up #17 AND another 1st.

#8, 10 or #17 - Atlanta - if we sent #23 and a future protected 1st, I bet they consider it. They love hoarding picks. Maybe we can dump Korver's $3.44 in the process...

#12 - Charlotte - they should be very motivated to dump MKG ($13 million expiring) or Biyombo ($17 million expiring).

#13 - Miami - they want to dump Waiters, James Johnson and Olynyk.

#15 - Detroit - they would probably want to dump Leuer ($9.5 expiring) or Reggie Jackson ($18 million expiring)

Meh... I think he could be good but I hated watching him... I think mostly because I just wanted him to give the ball to Zion more. He seems like a chucker but I think maybe the hate went too far. I’d rather have his aggression than someone that is too passive or scared. I think he’s a hard worker so maybe he becomes the truth.

It's possible, but outside of agreeing to a trade now that we can execute with our cap space later I don't see a fit. We don't really have the contract fodder and I'm not sure what player is available for a first that makes any sense. So many teams need to wait for FA to see what direction they will head.

I'm going to predict a really boring draft night with very few players traded... Atlanta may aggregate picks to move up, but I think there are some big dominos that need to fall in FA before substantial trades happen.

Like if we agreed to trade our pick for Kevin Love I'd be pissed (for a lot of reasons) in part because we didn't pitch anyone in FA.

Lol he wasn't even subtle about it in his most recent episode. In an ep last week he said he's desperately trying to trade the 23rd pick in the mock draft for Kevin Love. He said he hates the timing of free agency for the Jazz and wants to be proactive so they're not left empty-handed. And today, again, he really tried to temper expectations for free agency. Saying if we even get a meeting with Tobias Harris, it should be considered a win.
