If you go to Moab, I highly, highly, recommend driving on the Potash trail if you have a truck or jeep. The views and scenery are beyond amazing and it wasn't crowded at all.

That spot next to the Colorado river isn't a dam, it's a U.S. superfund clean up site of uranium mine tailings from Moab's mining past. They are moving 16 million tons of uranium tailings from next to the Colorado river to 32 miles north.
