So, how do you rate the Jazz off season?

Got Mike Conley for Crowder, Korver, Allen and a pair of conditional 1st rounders

Signed Bogdanovic

Signed Ed Davis

Traded Favors to Nawlins for a pair of 2nds

Possibly keeping Neto as a result of the contracts

Were active in the late moments of the draft and got 3 2nd round players

Went from DL to Zanik as the GM.

Fwiw, Zanik is not a traditional GM.

Tony Jones and others have reported that DL, Zanik, and Morway (sp?) make group decisions. Now we don't know if somebody has more say that others, but apparently they all have a say. Don't think DL isn't still very involved in these deals.

Oh absolutely he is. I was just highlighting the major moments so far. There’s detail that could be added to all of them. Like the conditions on the picks in the Conley trade, what second rounders we got for Favors and the specific details on the FA signings.

Someone said imagine Bogdanovic taking all of Crowders threes, wow!! That in its self has to be worth 5 wins, as a result Mitchell will find better shots due to our addictions. I love Foreman, and what he brings. He might contribute this year, how much? I don’t know, but I think of our second rounders, he will have the biggest impact. It probably won’t be right away though as he gets acclimated. I also think Ingles will be an improved shooter and play a few less min which will be good. We lost Favors but still managed to pick up a quality backup C who will defend and rebound and not play with Gobert, I hope. I also think these additions will help Exum assuming he starts drinking his milk and can stay in the lineup. Even if Ingles starts, I think these moves frees him up to lead the second unit, hope he can find chemistry with Ed like he had with Favors. I will admit I’m not sure how much a roller Davis is. Gobert is going to get a **** ton of dunks and easy layups this year, more than last year. Folks my birthday is in October and the start of this years season is the perfect birthday gift!!

This is a swing for the fences off season that absolutely caught wood (is that a baseball saying?)!

The only thing that could stop this from being an A+ is if the home run ball hits a seagull before it clears the stands.

Adding Conley for the cost = B-
Adding Bojan for his contract = B-
Adding Ed Davis for Room MLE = B
Adding Conley then adding Bojan then adding Davis = A+

By themselves, those moves were very risky. With Conley, we still lacked a great fit PF option and enough talent and depth. With Bojan and no Conley, he would have given so much needed offense but we would have lacked the floor general to bring it all together. Adding Davis would have been nice, but quite redundant if we still had Favors.

Conley and Bojan then Davis is a clear signal that we plan on contending the next two years. In summer 2021 when Conley, Gobert, Exum, Ingles and Mitchell are due new contracts, we can either stick with the same formula or completely rebuild around Donovan, Bojan and O'Neale. Whatever happens, we know we did our best to contend for the next two years.

Who knows - maybe we make the finals or win a title in the next two years. Maybe we elect to bring everybody back. Maybe we are in the market for Giannis in 2021. So much is possible now that we have shown that we have what it takes to be aggressive.

It's an A+. And when you factor in the fact the Jazz don't usually do s--t during the offseason the grade shoots to the moon. It's amazing, really. We're going to win a lot of games and I look forward to seeing what other moves the front office will make.
