What's new

We signed Emmanuel Mudiay

I don’t have a strong opinion on this move, but if it facilitates a pivot from our $9.6M Mudiay, then this is a grand slam. Open that cap space, baby!

Zanik did more than any other jazz gm in just a few weeks lol

To be fair, this has less to do with Zanik and more with Dennis' plan. Lindsey is still in charge and he always pointed towards - and made moves - to ensure Utah could be a player in free agency this season. He had Udoh and Thabo come off the books, and arranged the contracts of Favors and apparently Neto to be 1+1's. And Ricky as an expiring, too. I have to admit I doubted him. And to be honest, Jazz could have (and should have) had a couple of these one-year deals last year.

But Lindsey and Zanik are killing it this off-season. Davis and Mudiay could be absolute STUDS for us. And I guess there really IS truth to the narrative about Utah's development staff as that was a reason stated by Mudiay's agent for him choosing Utah. Isn't it great to see attitudes changing about the great city of Utah? Derek Harper must be turning over in his grave right about now

Just popped into my head
How many international players do Jazz have now?
Must be near a record
Maybe not
Lost two picked up two?
Make that lost three Sefolosha

Exum isn't going anywhere guys. Give that dream up.
Dream? Was that a Freudian slip? Signing Kawhi is a dream. 30 year old Karl with a flux capacitor signing for the minimum is a dream. If you think trading Exum is a dream, you need to embrace your inner feelings and gather with us as we all hold hands and pray.

Mudiay???

Folks, we had Mudiay for two seasons. I'm no psychologist, but that guy definitely suffers from Dissociative Identity Disorder --- split personality. One night he will be Russell Westbrook...then next night he's a guy who looks like he never ever played basketball. (Unfortunately most nights for us he looked like a person who never ever played basketball.)

Clueless Mudiay looking for home plate:

Never been a Mudiay fan, but heck, one year for peanuts coming of the bench - why the he'll not?
Because your peanuts can be used to feed the homeless. Why waste them on Mudiay?

Can't you people understand that the Knicks - the Knicks for God's sake -- didn't want him. We won 17 games last year and even we don't want him.

It would seem most Mudiay opinions posted in this thread arent really up to date..

First off Mudiay had a way bigger leash than is remotely reasonable at this level of ball because the Knicks were atrocious, and compiled some big statlines in the process -- there was plenty of ugly nights too.

He's a strong defender, that is understated! strong frame, not really like Exum at all, they arent necessarily redundant, Mudiay is much more natural taking it to the rack..

MUDIAY does struggle around the rim tho, dont be confused, he's no d mitchell.. He has great potential not in this area tho, he is limited, he's not baron davis he's far less explosive...

Honestly Coach Fizdale did nothing short of a miraculous job last year with Mudiay, it is QS duty to keep the progress going. No way Utah signs him if not for all of last seasons progress..

Good luck to him! If QS can integrate him to the system he should be better off for it moving forward.

You were saving all your money for Reggie Bullock apparently
Bullock will work out fine. One of the better signings in all free agency this year.

And by the way, thee best signing in all free agency this year is not Kyrie or KD. Nope. Elfrid Payton was the best signing in all free agency this year. You Jazz fans wish you had him. Hell, 29 NBA teams wish they had him. We do!

The ppl who thought Mudiay was better than D'Angelo Russell back before that draft were the worst, almost as bad as the Okafor is better than Towns crew :D
