News, rumors and buzz around the draft and free agency

The challenge with Utah, historically, has been that there have been so few people of color and so little cultural variation, that a number of people simply don't know how to react or treat them. In other words, there isn't a hostility towards people of color, but a genuine naivety and inexperience when it comes to people who are different.

I agree with this, as long as you add that a large number of people (hopefully not the majority, but large and vocal enough nonetheless), combine this naivety with a cocksureness that they know the correct way to deal with diversity in race, religion, ideology, etc.

EDIT: hmmm, that's not a bad word, at least not the way I used it

being of the white homogeneous majority, my opinion is not the best here... but having lived in Maryland, SoCal, and Germany, think Thabo's wife may have had as much issue w/ 'US mentality' vs lack of color diversity...
IDK, but in that regard, Utah is 'like 11' on a scale of 1-10, the few people of color only being a portion of that...

You should have said dicksure, or penissure.

Then you would have been the dick-of-the-walk

If both Kidd and Howard are signed to guaranteed deals now that's 15 contracts
Where does NWG fit in
Like both Kidd and Howard
Kidd seems like a big tough physical guy who can legit guard James, Leonard, George etc.
Howard seems softer but can legit shoot the three

Kidd and Howard are NOT fully guaranteed.
NWG and Miye Oni have fully guaranteed 1st year from what I gather.

IMO Kidd and Howard and the other camp invitees will be fighting for the final 15th roster spot. Oni and NWG are almost guaranteed to make the roster IMO.

I like this. Both guys are a little older having played in Europe, but clearly are being given a shot to make the team this year. Let them fight it out. Competition usually brings talent to the forefront.

Whichever guy gets cut would also be an “affiliate” player for the Stars - if they decide to stay in the G-League instead of going back to Europe. Either way, this is a low risk option to fill the 15th spot on the team. Neither guy is guaranteed to make it through the full season. There’s always the chance that a buyout guy could bump the 2nd one off the roster after the trade deadline.

There is a reason there are few people of color within Utah. I am going to go ahead and suggest a state dominated by one religion with a clearly documented deep rooted racist ideology, that controls all political and social influence within a state, is not "genuine naivety and inexperience." But you twist that narrative however feels good to your soul, champ.

No that's not it, it's the snow. Way too much and people don't like to be cold!

How do you account for Montana or Wyoming (or Vermont, or Maine, etc.) then?

Now clearly the LDS influence affects racial issues in Utah. But to pretend that it's the only factor is being just as naïve as those who assume it plays no role (which I don't suspect Catchall was trying to claim, btw, though I could be wrong).

We've got to have a better discussion about the clear racism that exists in Utah without relying on the clearly untenable ideas that either it's all due to Mormonism or that it doesn't exist if you just understood Mormons/Mormonism better.
