Equifax Settlement= Easy Money

If you guys want to make a quick 125 bucks (well, maybe not so quick it'll be months before they actually issue payments) today is your lucky day!

Equifax was hit with a class action lawsuit stemming from their negligence in safeguarding our credit information. The website to claim a settlement is live and takes about two minutes to fill out.

Easy money, sure. But would you willingly expose your personal info to hackers for $125. That's what I don't like about these large class action suits, they don't make the people affected whole at all.

Oh of course not. It's peanuts compared the damage done. But the hack already happened, so there's no reason not to get your small piece of the pie. It's worth it if for no other reason than that equifax would almost surely rather you didn't.

If you're eligible for the $125, your information was already exposed. Get your money.
Yeah, I mean I'll take the $125, but is that fully compensating me? No.

Speaking of fraud. ****

My office got to answer about 1,000 calls dealing with fraud today. We got swamped.

Don't then, I'm not here to convince yo .

What do you do?
I'm super confused on how I gave anyone the impression I wasn't going to take the money. That's not what I was saying at all.

If any of you get a call and it’s from “social security” and they have a warrant for you or your numbers going to be canceled or anything along those lines tell them “Stoked hopes you’re eaten by rabid chihuahuas you ****”

I haven't gotten any calls like that but I can't talk too long because I need to go to the store to buy a couple dozen iTunes gift cards to make a payment over the phone to the IRS or else they're gonna call the cops on me.

Thanks Zombie

I thought that they said during the story on the news last night that you had to prove damages had occurred. I could be wrong.

That's the part that I'm stuck at.
I mean we did freeze our credit and then have to unfreeze it and freeze it again for a loan so we have some damages that can be proven but it's hard to quantify. It does cost every time you freeze or unfreeze it though.
I gonna delve into it more tomorrow.

From my understanding that's the case if you are trying to claim the up to $20k for damages, which does require documentation. Everyone whose information was compromised however is entitled to either credit monitoring from equifax (hearty lol) or the $125.

If I were you I'd take my time and do some research. You have a few months to get your ducks in a row before the deadline hits.

You understand the more people who sign up, the less everyone gets, right? The $125 is a max. You will likely get about $12.
