The official "let's impeach Trump" thread

Unemployment is so low and the economy is so strong right now that trump would have to be a total moron to not be up 20 points in the polls and a shoe-in for re-election.

In 242 years of American history, no president has failed to be re-elected with this strong an economy. This should be a cakewalk and it would be for anyone with even minimal competence.

It should be noted that:

1. Rep Elijah Cummings heads a committee that continues to investigate trump.

2. Prior to his tweetstorm on Saturday, Fox n Friends ran an anti-Cummings segment. So once again, some crappy tv show has a disproportionate influence on the most powerful man in the world. He has access to our entire intelligence community and some of the world’s greatest tech. And instead, relies on Fox News...

3. Rep Cummings district consists of some of the most affluent parts of the country, including John Hopkins. So clearly Donald is going after the minorities who, as he puts it, “infest” the poorer parts. He’s going after Rep Cummings.

What’s sad is that his explicit racism doesn’t appear to be having much blowback among republicans. If anything, seeing the president essentially wear a white hood seems to be energizing his base of republicans.

Now why would that be?

Imagine the backlash Obama or Clinton would’ve endured from the GOP had they gone after (White) midwestern dumps ravaged by opioids? I personally can’t think of worse **** holes than Arkansas, West Virginia, Ohio, and Kentucky. Those are complete **** holes.

I think we should relax about bothsiderism on the whole party purity stuff.

There’s not a tea party surge that’s taking out DINOs or wrecking town halls.

The Democrats are having a spirited primary. Honestly, Democrats just can’t win with some of you with a conservative/libertarian predisposition.

If they don’t have debates within their party they’re attacked for being elitist and handing someone, like Clinton, the reigns. They’re attacked for not allowing new people and ideas to have a chance.

Then, when they have a wide range of new candidates and ideas, they’re attacked for being too progressive and for forcing ideological purity. I truly don’t get it.

What should a primary campaign be? Make up your minds.

And any Democratic candidate will be better than trump. Voting 3rd party is throwing your vote away, essentially helping trump. I can’t believe we’re still debating this.

Voting 3rd party is just as valid as any other vote, as is not voting. There’s room for everyone.

It's pretty obvious... Get the majority of minorities voting one side... Then rather than attacking minorities, attack the entire other party. Substitute any racist trope with "democrat" "liberal" "socialist" and you're also covering 80% of races you don't like. That's what Trump is doing.

"No human being wants to live there" allows him to say, "the people in Cummins district are not human" but allows him plausible deniability so he can sidestep racist accusations, but it looks pretty obvious. This is something Trump does very well. He is doing the same thing to "Democrats" "liberals" "socialists"

Adding the "rodent infested". Is he considering the residents there the vermin? Because my brother lives in Baltimore... It's no more "rat infested" than any other city. UNLESS you consider the human residents there vermin themselves.

I've seen plenty of defense against Trump's racism, but it's becoming more and more clear. Far more prominent. You're deluded if you think what Trump does has nothing to do with race.

This is the double standard stuff that the Republicans did so well... I really didn't notice it until trying to help my narcissistic sister and mother's relationships how similar the behavior is to that of those with narcissistic tendencies. The bar keeps getting raised and no matter what a person does, they cannot win. Cannot gain their respect. It's like "do this and I wouldn't hate you". Then they do that... "You didn't do it the right way, so I still don't like you".

Call it a less relevant option if you may, but it’s just as valid. Weren’t you just applauding the wide selection of candidates the Dems are offering? Let’s be consistent here.

I applaud the wide selection of Dems. Because they’re candidates from one of the two major parties. The Democratic nominee will have a shot at winning the whites house. Unlike whoever emerges from the third party ranks.

Voting indep is throwing you vote away (helping Trump as his base certainly won’t throw theirs away) because:

* Due to the electoral college, one candidate will need 270 electoral votes or else Congress will vote for who the next pres will be. So even if an indep candidate were to have an historic year and prevent candidates from both parties from obtaining the necessary 270 electoral college votes, they certainly won’t have enough power in congress to win.

* It’s not all about beating Trump, it’s about punishing the GOP so they’ll purge the racist and nationalist among them. I’m fine with conservatism. Although I’m a liberal, I value having a Conservative party that can counter liberal overreach. The GOP isn’t that and won’t be that Conservative party until it sees punishing results. It might take a few elections to rid ourselves of Russian trash like Mitch McConnell, Devin nunes, Rand Paul, Gym Jordan, etc But we can get there if both democrats and independents recognize the existential threat and vote against the GOP.

* Describing the Democrats as this “radical” and “extremist” party is just laughable. I’m old enough to remember when conservatives labeled Obama “the most liberal president ever.” I remember when Obamacare (the republicans counter to Hillary care) was described as “socialism” and had “death panels.” I remember when conservatives on here were having meltdowns calling Obama a socialist elitist Nazi Muslim for wearing a tan suit and using grey poupon mustard and wanting to impeach him for daring to promote healthy lunches.

It was ridiculous hyperbole back in 2008 and it definitely is now in 2019.

Would you vote for Harris or Warren if they ran as an independent or would you vote for Gabbard if she came out as the Dem winner?
