Article on Jarrell Brantley

Since we didn’t continue our yearly tradition of selling our second rounder, they needed to cut some corners to save some cold, hard cash. Since Oni’s draft position was behind the other two, his minimum salary per the CBA was the lowest of the three, so he got the deal.

Right, because good players have never come out of the second round. I saw first round talent.

You literally addressed none of his points. Impressive.

Also, it’s not like he isn’t under contract with the Jazz for development.

Oh please!! Watching SL it’s evident who the better player is, and there’s a bigger need for Brantley on the roster than Oni.
RE: Brantley over Oni, posted before: now we know how much 'defense' is worth: at least $800K in Jazz front office minds.
And that $800K was invested in letting Brantley know HE needs to play defense too...
Remember about 3 years ago when Quin told Ingles he needed to up his defense to get on the floor?
... don't ya just love consistency in an organization?

Ummmm what? Ingles played good defense from the get go. And played in every game he was available for. And averaged 21 min a game his first year. Don’t make **** up to fit your narrative. I remember him saying that about Grayson, but not Ingles. In fact most the discussion here about Ingles was that he was getting too many mins and not an nba player. Everything you said in that paragraph was wrong.

Wow, I was kind of feeling bad that everyone was slapping back your dumb premise to this thread, then you dish up this ***. Whatever.
Here's a quote from SLTrib Gordon Monson, Jan 15, 2017:
"Joe figured out that the way for him to get shots is to stay on the court, and the way for him to stay on the court is for him to defend," said Jazz coach Quin Snyder. "He's playing to his strengths — he has length and height. When he's guarding, if someone shoots from the perimeter, he tries to make those shots hard. If a bigger player takes him down in the post, he can handle that. There's a versatility that Joe has defensively and offensively. He understands that and embraces it."
Which part of this *** did I make up to fit my narrative? Yeah, I was off, in that it was 2-1/2 years ago, vs 3... but I wasn't 'mis-remembering'.
Other than that, everything you said in this tread was wrong.

Misinformed is a dumbass

Lol. In his first year or two it actually looked like Joe could be played out of the NBA from lack of defensive prowess at times. He looked too slow

Its not like because we signed Oni we are losing Brantley. He just needs more time to develop to get on the court for our team, Oni has more of a chance ot help this year which is why the choice was made. We still have Brantley's rights.

How is signing a player to a 2-way contract better than letting them go to Europe? Do they risk losing the rights of the player after a year if they are on a 2-way? I like how Goss and Neto were allowed to develop for 2-3 years before being signed. I really like the idea of bringing European players over when they are at the peak of their career. Maybe the Jazz could unofficially work something out with that coach that just went back to Greece (probably against the rules).

I don't understand why players play in the G-league. Don't they get paid like $30k? I'd much rather go to Europe and make six figures. I know two way players get a better deal, but I still wonder if it is higher paying than being in Europe.
