The only value is for trick plays. Otherwise, this is frankly dumb. His next step is learning to attack mismatches and converting on hooks and layups, not purposefully mitigating his strength.

Lastly, if this is a cherry-picked excerpt, he is nowhere close to being good enough to ever consider taking these shots on purpose.

I enjoy shooting in an open gym by myself... I will usually count misses and makes... will shoot like 100 threes after a workout. I generally shoot 60-70%... Rudy shot 3/5... This video shouldn't be encouraging to anyone seriously thinking he's developing a three point shot. Show him make 10 in a row or like 14/15 and I'll be a believer.

I'm cool with him practicing it a bit though. There could be trick play value... Didn't Tim Duncan bury a three to tie a playoff game once?

As someone else said though, his defender already goes out to the perimeter with him with what he currently does in our offense

Yes. Against the Lakers. I think that was 2007 or 2008. I was following the game on my phone from Olive Garden. It was glorious.

Now that I google it, it was perhaps the Suns. Maybe I was rooting for PHX at the time. Can’t remember. Damn memories. I know I was at Olive Garden, though.

I went to Olive Garden a month ago... that place is awful... I remember it being good... was kinda sad.

Not when we run pick and rolls or dho’s with a shooter... they have to stay closer then... He’s going to have so much more space to operate this year.

Haven’t been a fan for a while. We actually went last night for my son’s birthday, per his request. I was hoping he’d say Mi Ranchito.

I think he leverages what they are best at. Even if Rudy were to get a reliable shot he would still be much better at running to rim for lobs and easy dunks and I think quin would continue to use Rudy to do what he is best at.

Surprised this is getting this much attention... summer doldrums
Don't really want to see him take one during a competitive game, would rather see him practicing free throws and get above 80% or even above 70% this year! You know he'll be using that shot a ton this year... And yes, that's the one shot that's pretty consistent, in an empty gym or during the game.

During the draft that Rudy was in there was video of him hitting 3s too. Actually, it seems like every offseason we see a video of Gobert knocking down 3s.

Honestly, it would be great if his release was faster (although not many people would block that shot), but I think Rudy would be more valuable to the Jazz rolling to the hoop and making the defense choose to either double him in the paint and leave a wide open shooter or let him roll for a easy dunk.
