I think the better question is if this is team is going to be better than, say, the 2008 team, or maybe 1997.

Still makes 0 sense
I think he’s referencing Odom’s “length” as Boozer struggled with players bigger than him not named Yao Ming.

I also don’t remember Boozer struggling with Odom, and if he did, it would’ve been because of his athleticism.

1997 ... now that would be interesting. This team is definitely more athletic. But I don't think Rudy is going to stop the Mailman and Stock will pick them apart.
I’d have a tough time saying that this team is better than that one for a number or reasons. But I do think this is the best team since that time, or at least that era.

Completely different styles makes it almost impossible to make comparisons.

I’d like to invite some of you to watch the 1997 and 1998 team. Not just highlights, but the actual game film. The pace is unbelievably slow. Rarely are 3 pt shots taken. Players are much bigger and slower. I think the Mitchell Jazz teams would’ve given all the top teams in 1997-1998 a run for their money. Players like ostertag and Luc Longley have no place in today’s league. Even the best bigs would have a tough time playing at today’s pace and rules.

However, if the game were slowed down and physical play allowed, I think out of everybody, Gobert would struggle the most. Post players would bully Gobert around. Favors would probably be more effective.

I don’t think the pace would effect Mitchell or jingles. I think they would remain just as effective due to Mitchell’s athleticism and Jingles skill. In fact, I recently just rewatched some of the older games on YouTube. Had today’s Mitchell played on those 1997-1998 teams, I think he’d be the best athlete on the court, against all of our opponents. That includes Clyde and MJ. The lone exception would’ve been young Kobe.

Jingles on the other hand would’ve been Tony Kukoc 2.0. Honestly, I’ve been shocked at how similar their games are. I forgot that Tony could create off the dribble.

Watch how slow the pace is. Some of the players on the court in this game wouldn’t have a place in today’s league. It’s just too fast and skilled now. I’m probably in the minority here, but I think we’re in a new age of golden age basketball. There are so many freakish and skilled athletes today. Almost all the top teams have 2 stars that would’ve been freaks of nature 30 years ago. From huge athletic guys like Lebron, PG, KD, Kawhi, Greek freak to super skilled guards, like harden, splash bros, to freak athletic guards Westbrook and Mitchell.

I think you could argue that the top 4-5 teams last year would’ve run circles around the Bulls of 97-98.

Watch this game and consider what I’m saying. Today’s athletics are super skilled freaks playing at a much faster and free flowing pace. The Steve Nash Suns and Dwight Howard Magic were tough teams to defend. We should’ve seen this coming. They were just the prototype of today’s modern NBA: 4 athletes that can all shoot from the perimeter with 1 big setting perimeter picks and diving towards the basket for lobs.

On paper the 2019-2020 Jazz team is the best ever. And it’s not even close. This team is loaded with athletes and insanely skilled players. Their defense should remain top notch while they’ve added top talent offensive players. Chemistry, injuries, and their weakness at the 4 position are the only questions I have.
