What's new

2020 Presidential election

It's nuts to me that someone created that ad, and ABC ran it. It's one of the most disgusting political ads I've seen, and it's not like she's in the middle of a campaign or anything, so it's very random. But yeah, the right absolutely has a some sort of creepy obsession with her.

For sure. She is clearly the favorite “boogeyman” of the right.

Being anti Trump, or talking about things the GOP is doing that you find abhorrent isn't "hate."

Look, if you are tired of reading criticism of the ridiculous **** going on from the right in the country right now, you don't have to open these threads.

I don’t suggest these things of anyone else do I?

So stop equating “anti trump” with hate.

So basically your answer is do nothing.

Either accept that I’ll speak out when I feel the need to, speak with me to show me better or ignore me.

Exactly she’s not even campaigning right now. So why bring her up? Is it in an effort to make her the new face of the party? If she weren’t so young and attractive, would she be getting so much hate from the right?

Furthermore, can we discuss how no one knows what socialism is anymore?

Farmer handouts and handouts to Walmart to move operations to certain cities? Tariffs? somehow are labeled “incentives” or “subsidies” and “free market capitalism.” But isn’t this socialism? Isn’t government intervening, often financially?

But student financial aid? Universal health care?

That’s socialism?

What about the social security and Medicare that so many trumpers love? What about when they demand greater government investment in the rust belt? Is that socialism?

What about gigantic military spending in Kentucky? Is that socialism or free market capitalism?

Is what AOC advocates for in Congress really comparable to the Khmer Rouge?

Is Democratic socialism, socialism, and communism all summarized as “socialism” now?

In my profession, words matter. There’s a huge difference between Cambodia in the 1970s, Vietnam, China, North Korea, the USSR, Canada, and Denmark. Yet in these cheap attack ads, words don’t seem to matter anymore.

Bro Thriller is not "evil." I mean, let's put this into perspective a little bit. I enjoy the vast majority of your posts so I'm not going to ignore you. But if you have as much a problem with him as I do with Heathme, or JazzyFresh for example, I'd recommend just putting him on ignore. The world will keep on spinning, I promise.

Also, doesn’t ABC have a responsibility to not air that ad? I can see Fox News airing it. I’d still disagree with their decision to do so. But It’s right on par with “Tucker’s White Nationalist Hour.” But ABC is supposed to be above this sort of biased and slanderous attack ad, right?

And in an era is desperate need of civility, it feels like they really dropped the ball on something so simple.

Wow... still not very tempted to reveal these posts but I’m amazed this argument is still raging. And it appears to be going off the rails.

Lol

Never knew AOC would get some people so triggered on here.

I've made this point before, but I think Republicans turning socialism into anything they disagree with is a losing strategy, and probably in some part responsible for this new movement of young people who have embraced it. It's like when you go to DARE in middle school and hear about how evil and dangerous pot is, and then after you try it you realize you've been lied to, and stop taking those people seriously anymore.

But these ads aren't meant to convince anyone of course, it's red meat for the base, meant only to rile people up.

And abc is fine being used like that? Again, I’d be disappointed but not surprised if Fox News did this. But ABC? They’re one of our major news networks.

That’s a good connection with DARE. That’s a good point. We’ve been told for so long that universal health care and student financial aid is so evil and socialist. It’s really lost it’s sting for most of us. We know they’re full of **** and are just trying to protect big monies interests.

Being used? They're profiting from it! This sort of thing should put to bed the notion that our mainstream media outlets are "left wing." The only thing they care about is money.

Sadly, from what I saw last night the Democratic party doesn’t have much to offer. I don’t see any of the candidates mobilizing enough population to take down Trump.

The last polls out this past week or two showed 5 democratic candidates beating trump. Even in the special elections they lost this week, Democrats vastly over-performed while republicans under-performed. In a N.C. district that’s been held by republicans since 1963 and which trump won by 12, the Republican candidate only won by 2 pts.

That’s not a good sign for Republicans. Especially if consumer confidence in the economy continues to erode.

I think you’re mistaking what YOU want out of the candidates with what most Americans want. Which is fine, I want candidates to do what I want too. But just know, we might not be representative of what the general voting public wants.

For discussion purposes, which candidate(s) did you like the most from last night?

Sigh. The next 14 months are going to be loaded with lame republican ads distorting history and socialism as this, aren’t they? Ugh it’s going to be so long.

Conservatives love thier hyperbolic bogeymen.

Its already been a long 3 years listening to tou twacks distort reality and spitting on everything so many people have died for and sacrificed for.

Ive yet to hear a single person make a coherent and logical argument in favor of socialism. Or point to any place socialism has been a success. Its all just virtue signaling and guilt tripping nonsense. Basically, this is your argument. Do it or you are a bad person.

How about here in the USA right now. That was easy.

Yeah, they’re a corporation making money off of it. What I’m saying is that as a primary network you'd hope they’d have a higher standard. What I meant is that they’re making money off a terrible campaign ad.

Would Fox News show a terrible campaign ad from Democrats on Nunes or Gaetz even if the offer was insanely profitable for them? Doubt it. Why? Because Fox News knows its role. This just seems to be a continuation of our “liberal media” in an effort to show balance or make money, throws any principles away. It’s yet another example of how the right and (alt right) in particular highjack the institutions of our democracy and “use” them to pump poison into our system.

See what I’m saying here? So used might’ve been the incorrect verb. But it feels like ABC and our “liberal mainstream media” always seems to swing right. And then the normalization of this type of extremism occurs without any equal effort made by right wing media to balance things out. Know what I’m saying?

I disagree. He is clearly more articulate intellectual. Even honest.

But he spams like Heathme and openly hates

You are right that he openly hates and thats wrong. I disagree that he simply spams like heathme. Heathme only posts tweets of others peoples thoughts that are hugely hyperbolic and rarely serious to normal people.

And comparing thriller to dutch? Come on man. Zombie said it best, Dutch didn't have a single post that wasn't unhinged unadulterated nonsense. Thats a huge difference between the two. Dutch was a crazy psychopath.

Wow. So hateful. ;) I mean, I get that 35 percent of the country eats this up. But does this really work on everyone else? It immediately turned me off. Why?

1. Because I’m not stupid enough to conflate universal health care and student financial aid, the stuff AOC advocates with the Khmer Rouge taking over the public education system and economy while rounding up and killing millions of people. I mean, I’m old enough to remember a few months ago when the right was mocking her for crying outside of an internment camp on the border.

2. The ad was so extreme (skulls, bodies, burning) and so demeaning that it turned me off. It could’ve been made by Warren herself, and it probably would've motivated me to donate to her biggest rival and never vote for her again. Are Americans really so desensitized to this stuff? Judging by the backlash this caused on social media, I guess the answer is no. Lots of people seemed turned off by it. So what was it’s purpose? Give fresh meat to the Breitbart and Shapiro boys? Is that what abc is doing now? Throwing fresh meat at the dumbest and most hateful among us?

But I agree, the hyperbolic obsession of falling everything “socialism” is in full effect. It’s the boogeyman. But isn’t it losing its effect? It’s the boy who cried wolf by now, right? I remember when Obamacare was called socialism.

Yang. And Warren was good last night too.
