Big Al Working Hard

^^^^your dislike of Jefferson is well known.

The Water is very Muddy when it comes to PF's and C's in this league because guys rotate between positions so much. But BIG AL is a Center because of his ability to play in the low post and his size.

When someone on our entire roster shows the ability to handle scoring load he is the best we got!!

I'd like to thank rocfan for providing my excuses for me. And no, you cannot argue that those guys play PF, because they do play PF.

what do you mean he provided excuses for you? he is claiming Big Al is better than most of the guys on your list whom you would rather have over Big Al.

In no particular order:

Howard
Noah
Gasol
Gasol
Bynum
Bogut
Chandler
Okafor
Horford
Cousins

Granted some of these are more suited at PF (Horford/P.Gasol, etc), as is probably Al himself, but I would rather have any of these guys be my starting C over Al. We aren't getting rid of Al so I am willing to give him another year before I'm officially on the "Trade-Al-Bandwagon".

Al is absolutely not better than Howard and Gasol (the elder.) He's better than every other guy on that list. The wild card is Bynum who might be better than every guy on that list for sheer talent, but is still developing and has yet to put a whole season together. Cousins is the Double Wild Card since he has billion dollar talent, but a 10 cent head. Gasol (the younger), Noah, Bogut, Chandler, Okafor, and Horford will never be better than Al.

I'm in the I want Al to succeed not just because he's on the Jazz but he just seems like a good dude camp. One thing I try to keep in mind is his body type is not one of Malone or other big guys that look cut up, even in the best shape he can get into he may not look it especially when comparing to Malone or standing next to Favors.
Not making excuses here just trying keep my expectations and trying to draw comparisons on body types but I can't think of any to compare AJ to, closest I would say is Memo in that neither look all that athletic but I know AJ is more athletic then Memo.

Anyway thanks for posting all those work out videos and here's to hoping all comes back in better condition (endurance) and hopefully a little more flexible (less stiff) in his defensive movements.

Wrong. Al is a net negative player his whole career. That means every team to date statistically improved with him off the court rather than on. At some point, you have to blame the player rather than make excuses about a new system, coach, or what not. Al stalls the offense when he gets the ball, and is pretty hapless on the defensive end as a center. The good news is he is still young and can reinvent himself like Zach Randolph did. Coming into camp in shape would be a good start.

Great post.
