Who will be the 5th starter?

I wouldn't mind seeing Royce starting and Ingles playing the role of 6th man. Ingles as a 6th man helps to strengthen our bench and depth. Similar to how Pop used Ginobili for so many years. It would be a wise thing to do. Not only to expand R.O.'s experience, but also to preserve Jingles.

I think it’ll be Royce before too much time passes. It makes too much sense to have his defense and low-usage rate out there with the other 4 starters.

I think this is pretty much dead-on. If he found some consistency in his shot, it’s his.

The other considerations are that I think the Jazz would like and would be well-served to have Joe come off the bench since we don’t really have a backup point guard (Exum and Mudiay are okay ballhandlers that can’t really shoot off the dribble) and he’d come in as a coach on the floor after watching the game develop, and that Jeff Green has some scoring chops that would be best utilized for an anemic bench unit.

We know Conley/Mitchell/Bojan/Gobert will all be starters and according to reports Conley/Mitchell/Ingles/Bojan/Gobert will be the closing lineup most nights. So do you think Quin will keep Joe in the starting lineup and stagger his minutes so that he plays a lot with the second unit or move him to a sixth man role and start Royce or Green at the 4?

I think we all been on this corner a while now. I do think Green starts out as the starting PF unless Royce plays so well in pre-season that they cannot justify it.

I think Jeff might be more effective guarding the bigger PFs. Saw the pics of him at media day and he is thicc and athletic. Both are good options to start imo. I'm sure Green had options at the minimum so they may have given him some assurance that he'd have first crack at it.

Disagree... Joe off the bench makes the most sense to me. Limits his minutes and he can still play plenty with the starters. I think Bojan can help lead the second unit potentially, but that can be done with a quick sub of Ingles for Bojan or Royce for Bojan in the 1st quarter.

Bojan's game and build seems like it can handle heavy minutes, play 80 games a season, and not breakdown. From what people have said he is tough as hell and a grinder. If you come off the bench your minute load is automatically reduced... they guy that needs that is Joe imo.

Imo Green makes the most sense. He already has chemistry with Conley. He's a veteran with a lot of experience and as the 5th guy won't be asked to do much except be consistent and do the small things like make make open shots, grab rebounds and defend.

Ingles off the bench would help this roster a lot. The bench lacked a player like him last season.

But my guess is that Royce starts. Tony Jones has been accurate about everything else Jazz related this offseason and he seems to think that the Jazz are leaning towards Royce. So

Big fan of Bojan getting lots of minutes. Probably in the top 2 or 3 on the team. Joe won't help the 2nd unit offensively and Bojan would be the go to guy. And he could still finish games.
