The official "let's impeach Trump" thread

I don’t get why people still bring up the whistleblower. The guy is fairly insignificant now imo. Don’t get me wrong, he got the ball rolling on this whole thing. But we don’t need to depend on him anymore. If he decided today to not testify, it would suck but it’s not like we don’t already have enough evidence to destroy Donald’s presidency. We already have testimony from diplomats, text messages, the call transcript memo, and Rudy and Donald. The idiot committed impeachable offenses on the lawn, by asking China to manufacture dirt on Biden if we’re being perfectly honest. What do you thinks republicans would’ve done if Obama had done the same thing?

People acting as if this entire case depends on the whistleblower are intentionally ignoring the mountains of evidence we’ve uncovered over the past week.

Donald: ****. This whistleblower thingie isn’t going away. Turns out that releasing my phone call asking the Ukrainian President to manufacture dirt on the Biden’s didn’t quash the whistleblower’s complaint that I called the Ukrainian President asking him to manufacture dirt on the Bidens. Only the dumbest of my supporters still think this is a normal thing that presidents do. Even ****ing half brained Tucker said I screwed the pooch!
The phone call was PERFECT so help me to find someone to BLAME it on.

We need a fall guy! Someone really stupid.

Pence: Hmmm. Can’t be me. Mother wants me to be president in 2020.

Pompeo: Yes! We need a fall guy, even I’m catching heat now.

Rudy: didiejifhruriwkejfjdudfhhdjejc

Pence: How about Don Jr? He has no political future and unlike Ivanka, you don’t want to date him.

Donald: Nah, I need him to go to prison for me incase I lose in 2020 and the Southern District of NY comes after me.

Barr: I got it, how about Rick Perry? He’s stupid and leaving already. Lets frame him!

Donald: PERFECT! I love it! This is gonna be yewge. Let me call Sean. MAGA

Since it is the voters that are running this whole show, and since it is voters who have gotten us where we are now, and since there is little evidence that voters are going to change their current opinions, relaxing for many may be a little difficult for the next year.

Our country was founded and expanded on genocide and enslavement and warmongering. We pretend we are a moral people, but our government has always been a representation of what we really are - a nationalistic people whose worst instincts come to the surface when power is obtained or when self-interest is threatened. We get the government we deserve. This is what we deserve.
What sad analysis. Is this really how you see things? I see a country that has done and can continue to do so much positive. I see people who care about their environment and their neighbors. Is everything perfect? No. But it is not horrible by any means, and we deserve good in our lives, not bad.

When I read analysis like JazzGal's I find myself wondering how people on different sides of the political spectrum could possibly ever agree on anything. Their starting points are so dramatically different. Personally, I think the human race is incredible and a massive positive for the earth. I was at a party recently and got into a discussion with a liberal who sees humanity as a terrible stain on the existence of the universe. I can see where these sorts of people are coming from, and I'm in absolute and total disagreement with their conclusions.

Lol this is a hilariously poor attempt to find a patsy. Even if Perry did urge Trump to make the call, unless he had his arm shoved up Trump's *** and was working his mouth during the call, I don't think it's particularly plausible that he forced Trump to ask Zelenskyy to investigate Joe Biden and his son.

That literally made me laugh. "Rick Perry made me do it!" lol lol

Cracks forming

If Donald didn’t do anything wrong why are even senate republicans, who have remained silent for 3 years, coming out to criticize dear leader?

Also, earth shattering news, it’s not going to get any better. This ain’t blowing over. It’s going to get worse. It’s only going to get worse.

That's 3 republican senators who have spoken out already.

I don't even think it would suck. The identity is completely irrelevant. He or she brought damning facts to the awareness of the appropriate people. It's up to them to now investigate and confirm (or not) those facts.

Collins, Sasse, and Romney, right?

I’d be surprised if we didn’t see some more from Arizona and Colorado. I’d also be surprised if retiring rep Will Hurd from Texas doesn’t speak out.

I think we’re on the same page here.

My point was, the whistleblower got the ball rolling.

Since then, his accusations have been confirmed by the actual phone call, diplomats, and confirmed by Donald and his own personal attorney. It’s dumb that people are apparently still attacking the whistleblower. And if this is the Trump defense then they should save the energy and just admit defeat.

To me, it would be like the pro Nixon crowd attacking John Dean even after the tapes had been released. As if the evidence uncovered on the tapes by Nixon’s own voice didn’t matter. It really doesn’t matter who the whistleblower is. We now have plenty of evidence that Donald committed impeachable offenses.

And with him trying to blame Rick Perry, sounds like Donald he recognizes this as well.

I’m guessing @sirkickyass might have some thoughts about this? What effect does this administration's efforts to blame the 2016 election interference have on the Ukrainian people? Certainly, they don’t like being attacked by a perceived ally like this. Nor do I doubt that Russian disinformation troll farms are missing this opportunity to undermine Ukraine’s young democracy.

So I get that this administration is trying to strong-arm their government into investigating the Bidens. But what does this do to the Ukrainian people? How are their best interests being served by Donald’s short-term political aspirations? Will this undermine American foreign policy long-term?

This only validates their belief system about those who don't agree with their perspective.

Gotta hold yourself to a higher standard than this.

True story: Sirkickyass dated a Trump supporter pretty recently. It was pretty instructive on how it happens and it's not just "they is dumb."

It did blow up over her inability to accept that I might know more about Russia/Ukraine than whatever her coworkers said though. So some stuff holds together. People don't like things that are disruptive to their world view. Being oppositional about it only makes them double down harder.

Why was she a Trump supporter? Was she mostly disconnected from politics and voted for someone not named Hillary? Was she a single issue voter who felt like Trump was her last hope to save her guns, appoint conservative justices, or protect America from the brown horde? Did she get caught up in the whole, “we need a disruption in our government” wave that included both conservatives and liberals? Or what?

Just to add to this, it really gives away the game when you learn Giuliani consulted with Manafort multiple times while "investigating" this whole thing, who is currently serving a prison sentence in part for doing crimes in Ukraine!

It's all just so absurd.

That’s... a really good point. And I’m not sure if it’s getting as much attention by the media as it should. Manafort has always been suspected of knowing where all the bodies are. This only heightens my suspicion. Dude is one rotten apple.

What did Rudy want with him? What was Manafort telling him?

I guess we're supposed to believe he was trying to help prove Manafort was set up by Democrats and Ukraine for crimes he ended up pleading guilty for.

*shrug*

Is this going to be their next strategy? Strong-arm Mitch to not even hold a trial?

Yeah... that sounds like a terrific strategy to give Democrats a senate majority for the next half century. Not to mention essentially admit that Trump is guilty.

IIRC Mcconnell can't change senate rules by fiat. There would have to be a vote to do so. Which will get used against Senators running for office in just the same way as a vote to acquit would. Hell, it might even make a more effective campaign message.
