They both surpassed Hornacek? What the hell are you talking about?? ARE YOU OLD ENOUGH TO REMEMBER THE DAYS WHEN HORNACEK PLAYED??? Williams can bury any hatchet he want's, we're talking about what maybe THE MOST DISRESPECTFUL SCENARIO BETWEEN STAR PLAYER AND LONG TIME/FRANCHISE COACH IN THE HISTORY OF SPORTS!! Most of us don't have to be reminded about the Williams/Paul comparison. That's not whats at question. AK is something I'm not even touching on because you got me messed up with D-Will. Adrian Dantley situation is about a 1,000 times different and in the opposite direction as Deron Williams situation. He made a Legend Coach of the Jazz and of NBA history resign after a regulation game!!! I don't care if D-Will was Wilt Chamberlain, we're talking, he forced Coach Sloan and Phil Johnson to resign on the same night!!! Bury the hatchet?? There is no Hatchet to bury if it's a murder weapon.

TERRIBLE coach when it came to teaching and adjusting!!!???? LMFAO!!!!!!! Coach Sloan was the definition of teaching and adjusting. He taught a game that was so precise other coaches tried to duplicate it and failed. The Jazz went to the playoffs 14 straight years and 18 out of 21 years of coaching at the time the NBA was at it's best. You don't think he was a good teacher and couldn't adjust!!!???? Let me guess, your opinion that he couldn't adjust was because he didn't prefer his team shooting a 3? How did I know?? Because you go off of what you hear instead of researching it for yourself. Your a fool to think this about Sloan. Popovich even said that he got his style from Sloan. Sloan is the 4th in the NBA for the most wins, are you serious!!!??

Are you even aware of the role that Hornacek played in getting the Jazz through the Playoffs? I'm not going to dive in too deep, but in Game 2 against the Lakers, 1st round playoffs 97, he scored 21 points and got 7 assists hitting big shots.
Game 3 he scored 26 and was the Jazz leading scorer in a losing effort. We went on to win the series because of his contributions on offense and defense.
He was one of the most consistent Jazz men we had for years. What are you even talking right now.

In first 2 wins AK blocked 13 shots and completely changed the series by forcing GSW to adjust their offensive strategies.
AK MVP is right in that AK could affect games and series in a serious way and he didn't have to bring big scoring to do so. When he did this he was awesome to watch. The problem for me was that he disappeared too much to be retired for me. If he had consistency and if he didn't check out so soon after getting the big contract I'd get a petition signed to get his jersey retired. But... unfortunately, he was just a body running up and down the court towards the end as much as he was a difference maker. If only, if only.

But he didn't check out right after contract.... Year after that contract he still was leading league in shot blocks and was still the best player on the Jazz. We started season 5-0 and were in serious playoff talk when Ginobili crashed into AK's knee and caused him to miss 20+ games with MCL sprain - neither Boozer nor Memo were able to keep Jazz afloat and Jazz record during that span was pathetic and we never recovered. Then at the end of the season Kwame Brown undercut him and he had scary crash landing braking his one wrist and badly spraining the other. I would think those injuries and him being quite fragile and possible more scared of getting injured again had more to do with his declined hustle and living in the paint than checking out because he was paid.

I will just have to disagree with you on that one. He had better offensive RT and better defensive rating with lower usage rate than Boozer in that series and as I mentioned completely changed series in those first two games with his defense and in clinching win he posted 21pts15reb,3stl line and was clearly best player in that game. So in 3 of 4 wins he was MVP of the Jazz..
Maybe so. It sucks how injuries can take down some pretty promising/proven athletes. Let's not have a number retired discussion suck the life out of us when we have zero say in it anyways.
I loved AK on our team. I wish some things would have happened differently. I think he was one of, if not the most dynamic and unique player to wear a Jazz jersey. I think some things that happened in relation to his personal life/interviews/other player comments gave the impression to fans that he was not all in all the time. Them's the breaks, it's hard to change fan minds now. It was a good run way back then, and now here we are in 2019.
You're right our leading scorer, rebounder, and #1 option was not as big of factor in that series as AK who was the MVP of 3 of our 4 wins. Ill just have to trust someone named AKMVP on that one. Its not like Boozer was double teamed for most of that series and still put the offensive load on his back... Oh wait.
Defenses treated AK like Rubio.
AK had good help defense. He was not a good 1 on 1 defender. He also cheated off his guy even when it was a good shooter to go for blocks and steals just to get burned. Probably more than any player I have ever watched.
AK cared more about his stats than anything else.
This is how bad it is, I am defending a player I dont even like. I dont think Boozer is in the conversation for having his number retired and I wanted to trade him most of the time he was here. But he was a far far far better player for the Jazz than AK ever was.

Later in career - yes. In 2003-2006 he was one of the best in NBA. I remember one game he shut down Kobe ( who missed all his FG in second half) and even Phil Jackson gave AK credit for that, saying "when a guy plays such a great individual defense maybe you should start looking for teammates" referring to Kobe's unwillingness to pass in that game.

Go watch Ronnie Brewer again. That guy was rarely on his man and got steals because of it. He also gave up a lot of easy scores because of it.
