Wife is looking at a Mini Clubman S All4.

looks nice, drives awesome.

If you got something to send me far far away from that car please say so. By Friday I'll be posting pics of the new car unless you give me something to convince her to step back.

Wow is your boyfriend going to drive it too? The Clubman is a god ugly thing, A Mini Cooper S is a respectable car for your girlfriend/wife to drive but you really can't be seen alive in a Clubman. You'll need to get new friends, everyone on the forum will lose all respect for you. The Toyota RAV4 is a decent car, cheap to service and will run forever.

I agree with Rubashov. Original mini is great, that one looks like someone stretched it by mistake in a photoshop. But it's gonna be hard to talk someone out of the car which looks so original compared to others. And it does ride great.

The Mini is built on the exact same chassis as the BMW X1, which we own. The X1 is Car and Driver's #1 rated luxury compact SUV in a stacked field. It also has a much more powerful motor and way more torque than the Mini. It's a fun and pretty powerful vehicle. And the BMW is far and away class leading on interior space. I'm averaging 26 MPG and over 30 MPG on road trips while often traveling over 90MPH. I leased it for $299/mo for 12,000 miles-per-year with $4000 down, including all scheduled maintenance same as the Mini. That was on a $43,000 MSRP vehicle.

Other cars I liked during my research were the Mazda CX-5, Honda CRV and VW Golf Sportwagen, which has a 6 year bumper to bumper warranty if you're purchasing not leasing.

It is just about the best time of the year to buy a vehicle since last years models are going on sale, which is how I bought my 2018 last fall.

If you don't mind leasing(which I'd definitely recommend if buying new) take a look at the slightly larger BMW X3 also, they have some absolutely screaming leases on dealer loaners.

But if you love the Clubman go for it, it's a really cool car in my opinion.

If he can't be seen alive in a Clubman he shouldn't be seen dead in a RAV4. Toyotas absolutely suck to drive. Great resale of course but you pay a premium to drive a massively underpowered piece of ****. The days of Toyota being a good value because of reliability are long gone since all cars are reliable these days. Mazda eats Toyotas lunch.

The clubman does not look nice.

Iirc, these cars don’t have great reports on durability.

It isn’t small enough to be small, or big enough to be useful.

Hard pass on this car.

Also, iirc this is one of a handful of cars that the dudes from Top Gear all agree is awful.

My wife drives a Mazda. They are plastic trash. They feel cheap af and their ergonomics are terrible.

I actually think the Clubman is a standout in a sea of fairly bland looking vehicles. It's distinctive and has a super cool, different interior. I would happily drive one. And the color choices are the bomb. That maroon with the white roof is awesome.

Interesting. The critics LOVE Mazdas. I read that the new Mazda 3 has nicer interior materials.

I’m not sure what they’ve done recently, but for years it was clear that Mazda was trying to compete in the power-to-weight ratio by simply cutting weight. The materials feel cheap, straight thru to the exterior.
