In my defense (ha ha), most of the time it's the bag's fault. Depends on the brand but some are really awful. Impossible to open cleanly without taking a pair of scissors to the bag.

We normally decorate and have hosted halloween parties a bunch of times.

This year we were out until about 8pm and didn't plan to hand out candy.

As I'm making my lunches for the week and doing some pickling and my laundry the doorbell rang and knocks on the door when my porch was dark as **** and my driveway lights were also off. The universal symbol for "we're not handing out candy" is lights off. It's weird that some people don't understand that.
