2020 NBA trade deadline discussion

Any way we could get that bertrans dude? Do we have anything they would want?
I'm guessing not. He is on a 1 year 7 million dollar expiring. Maybe they can't afford him cause of Beal and wall and would trade him simply to not lose him for nothing?

He's my #1 hope if we do go for a trade. Not sure they'd want anything we'd be willing to trade though.

He is kinda like a 6 foot 10 Steph curry. Some hyperbole there but kinda sorta true

I think we need a 4/5 combo with some psycho in him. And who can play pick-n-pop. That’s Portis.
I like portis too. And honestly I think that with the way bertrans is playing it will take more to get him than we will be willing to give up.

Conley and Exum will become trade pieces next season as expirings. But they both currently hold negative trade values, meaning attach them with picks in exchange for Christmas candies and bag of chips

Portis and Bertans basically represent two school of thoughts. One is playing back to the old tradition school of basketball with traditional five position lineup, basically substituting Favs with Portis.

But having Bertans will alow us to play sorta positionless basketball with 4 shooters(Conley Don Bojan bertans all shooting 36%+ from deep) that will space the floor like crazy. Then we will have the weapons offensively to punish our opponent for putting multiple big men in the paint trying to out muscle and out rebound us.

Doubt bertrans is get-able though

Neither is gettable right now. Different story next season with Exum and Conley becoming expiring.
I think bertrans is expiring this season so who knows what his situation will look like after free agency this coming summer
Plus the Knicks have a bit of a logjam problem at portis position. They might actually want him gone. I don't think the wizards are trying to get rid of bertrans. Probably quite the opposite. I bet they hope to keep him long term.

Jazz need a big who rebounds and defends. That alone would make a difference, and a designated rebounder shouldn't be too expensive to trade for. Jeff Green averages 2.6 rpg. Georges Niang averages 1.8 rpg. It's a joke. Those two guys are giving other teams extra possessions, and those are possessions where our defense is out of position. Rebounding and defense at the 4 needs to be the priority. If they can get someone who shoots and scores, so much the better.

This is where the Jazz could experiment with Juwan Morgan. Tell him that his job is to rebound, defend, run the floor and spot up. Otherwise, the targets could be Thad Young, Bobby Portis, Jakob Poeltl or maybe Rudy Gay.

While we're at it, I wonder what it would take for San Antonio to give us Poeltl and Derrick White. We need a big, versatile guard.

At very least he’d be fun to watch... not only has Ed sucked but he is the least fun guy to watch.

Poeltl and White would be freaking awesome.

Unlikely. Guys like Bertans and Marcus Morris are going to be in high demand because of how well they are playing. Multiple teams are going to make offers and those offers will beat anything we can offer.

That's why looking at buy low targets is the move imo. Guys who haven't played well on their current teams. Or guys that have fallen out of a teams rotation completely for whatever reason. Maybe we could make something of them on our bench. That's why I've suggested Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Bobby Portis.

I'm actually kinda skeptical that the Wizards will even trade Bertans. His contract is nice for them.

Not only that, the numbers they are putting up are not likely sustainable when you compare them with their career averages. Morris is more than likely to revert to a 36% 3 point shooter.

Portis, maybe Randle could help. Crowder too. I doubt the Jazz will make a major trade this season, but it would be a morale boost to see them actually try to augment both the bench and the 4 position.

Y’all are trying to shop at the mall and we only got DI budget.
