Dante scores 28 pts on 11-13(4-4 3pt) in 24 min

The Cavs were down 25 and Dante brought them back. He had 28 points in just under 20 mins and then Beilein brings back in Sexton and the Wolves go on a 14-0 run and Exum doesn't even get a shot in the last 4-5 minutes of play. You'd think you'd get the ball to the guy who has shot 11/13 from the field in that instance.

No wonder Kevin Love is so frustrated.

Dante looked surprised after he hit several of those threes. Like, he expected them not to go in. Plus defenders played about 12 feet back on him.

Jordan Clarkson for me over exum any day. More dynamic, more refined game, more scoring with a lot more pressure, and when he shoots I expect it to go in.

Thanks Dante for all the hope. Here's some hope for ya, but you weren't making us a better team where Clarkson already has.

I am stoked for Exum. As a 'forever Exumer' I am happy. However, I didn't get to see this game live, and only seen the highlights since. I do feel that this type of offensive performance is not sustainable for X :(
I was really hoping when I heard he had scored 28 points that he had gone 7/13 (3/7 from 3 and 11/12 free throws). I feel for Dante to be a legitimate scorer he must live at the free throw line.
However, some of his finishes in the lane were a little 'Mitchell lite'. I wonder if that is one good thing he may have developed or learnt over the past 3 years sitting on the pine in Utah. It may bode well for him injury wise too if he can have a little floater game and herky jerky moves in the lane to avoid his kamakaze drives when he doesn't have an angle on the defenders.

But still super happy for him.

Mind you, Exum isn't the kind of no-conscience bench scorer that Clarkson will continue to be for Jazz.

We rode the Dante roller coaster for a lot of years but I'm actually surprised at the hate. Dante never started drama. He played hard when he got the chance. He was abused by Quin right in front of our eyes so many times. He did get hurt. He did make mistakes. But I watched nearly every one of his games in a Jazz uniform and never questioned that he wanted to succeed.

Thank you for being a voice of reason

What are your guys' thoughts on Exum?
I always thought he had potential to be great... that he could be the key to the Jazz becoming contenders. It seems that I was right. With the JC trade we are now contending.

I like the kid and hope he finds some consistency with the Cavs. I'm still happy the trade brought us a scorer off the bench. Win-win.

I watched it dude, he didn’t force anything, the weird little floater/hook shots he hit are the ones he makes, no kamikaze stuff, couple good passes and rebounds. It was just getting rolling with some confidence. And after he got a breather Sexton wouldn’t look to pass him the ball and he didn’t get another shot lol

That's good to hear.
But do you agree he needs to live at the free throw line? Or do you think that the 'successful' version of Exum would look something like this?

I have seen a couple of Cavs games since the trade. Between Sexton, Garland and Porter Jnr, their are a lot of empty possessions. Porter Jnr has a pretty sweet handle though. Would love to think Exum gets a go as the medium term combo starting guard.

Absolutely mate. This wasn’t exactly replicable. I still think that once he’s had a bunch more minutes and gets rolling that he can feast at the free throw line. To my eye he’s only just starting to get a little of his speed back so this game was super important to be able to shoot the 3 without hesitation and be aggressive
