Royce O’Neale Contract Extension

Nice deal, think he'll keep getting better. He surprises me defensively every once in a while. He just fits our style.

Great deal for Royce and at a very friendly rate for the team, also helps that Donovan's best buddy on the team has been inked for another 4 years.

If you go plug in those two guys in other scenario for guys with the same salary as Leonard, it works. If you take guys from other teams who make as much as Bradley and Davis and they can be swapped for Leonard. All I know is that the trade machine has been thought to have many obvious flaws in the past, but months later people discover why it’s said what it has. In any case, do you make that deal?

I’m proposing sending him out for “nothing” now. It just happens to come with a guy that gives your bench some options. You still get a defensive 5 off the scrap heap for this season. But both those option, even by themselves, beats the hell out of the status quo.

But why are you getting rid of Bradley? I'd think that Bradley becomes MORE valuable of you are rolling with Leonard. I would not have him as my only backup center.

The second part was signing a guy from the scrap heap.

But I was thinking Royce May get $11-12/per, so this is good. Leaves us more room to work on getting Clarkson back. But a combined $8.5M on Davis and Bradley is too much if Davis is not going to play and if Bradley is going to be the guy.

I’m so happy this got done now! I love Royce, and this contract is great for both sides. Awesome to see a guy like Royce make it like this and grow into this! This was one I was worried about, and it’s great to see Royce wanted to just get it done too and wanted to be here.

I’d guess Davis is moved at some point. May not be until next season though.

I think this summer is regarded as a weak free agency class, IINM. Royce could have received a stupid contract. I think it's a fair deal for the Jazz' best perimeter defender. I wish he would shoot a bit more, though. At the % he shoots 3's, he should be taking more of them.

I’m fine with how many he takes. Perhaps only shoot when he passes up wide open ones. When he’s shooting threes, even with a good percentage, I feel more comfortable with other guys doing it. Not a knock on him.

Brilliant and incredible value. The league is always overpaying come summer regardless of what they say now. The cap is on the rise. Royce is in the top 5 players in the league in 3 pt percentage right now and he plays incredible defense. I would have thought $13 million was a reasonable rate given the competition in the league but I love that he wasnt greedy and we are able to remain competitive if others follow his example.

Evan Turner - $18.6
Allen Crabbe - $18.5
Solomon Hill - $12.7
Brandon Knight - $15.6
Timofey Mozgov - $16.7
Tim Hardaway - $19.5
Chandler Parsons - $25
Exum - $11

Royce - $8

Just saying. And if you want more examples...
