Stars Off the Schneid

Stars beat Fort Wayne tonight. Morgan had 26, JWF 20, Bluiett 17 and Oni had 8 points in 20 minutes. No Brantley, NWG, Collinsworth or Willie Reed for the Stars. Haas leading rebounder with 9 and 10 points and Pryor the leading assister with 6. Pleasant Grove's CJ Wilcox lead Fort Wayne with 25. Good win for the Stars as they were undermanned.

Stars lose to OKC by 11 tonight. Stars up 5 then down by 21 and cut it to 3 late but no mas. Morgan and Brantley with the Jazz. Reed out forever with a groin pull, Collinsworth out sick again. Oni and Paul White on minutes restriction. JWF looked horrid. NWG 19 points 9 dimes, Bluiett 17 points and 8 rebounds and Benlevi with 13. Bluiett played the 4 and 5. Oni seized up in the 4th quarter. Oni may have sneaked into double figures after an 8 point first quarter. Same two teams tomorrow.

Stars lose again by 3. NWG 21 and 8 assists, Oni 18 and 8 boards and Bluiett with 11. JWF 3-12 shooting and 0-8 from 3. Stars had the lead late and JWF, NWG and Oni make bad plays down the stretch.

Stars lose by 5 at home after trailing 10-0 to start. Stars were down 20 late and rallied and had a chance to tie but Oni stepped put of bounds. Stars had a 1 point lead twice in the game in the first quarter. Brantley and JWF over 20, Morgan the leading rebounder with 8 to go with 3 points. Oni 13, Bluiett 12 and Scott 10 in double figures. Oni lead the team in assists. NWG 2 points and left with an injury. The starting lineup of Morgan, Brantley, Oni, NWG and JWF looked as bad as you could possibly look the first half of the first quarter. Turnovers, bricks and matador defense. Collinsworth, Reed and Haas did not dress but Willie was wearing a Kansas City Chiefs sweatshirt on the bench. Fun fact: Rayjohn Tucker is the leading scorer in the GLeague now for his games in Wisconsin.

Nice game for Brantley. He hit 3 of his 8 3pt attempts, pushed the ball and got on top of the rim a few times. Finished with 23/7/4 and 1 steal.

He almost willed them to an amazing comeback. Whatever bug the Jazz have, it seems the Stars have caught it too.

Stars won tonight at Santa Cruz. The heroes were Oni, Brantley and JWF. The Stars were undermanned. No Morgan, NWG, Collinsworth, Reed or Bluiett. Stars bench played like studs. Haas 10 points 11 boards, Mike Scott 10 points, Benlevi 10 points and Pryor lead the team in assists with 8. Oni also had 11 boards.

The Stars effort last night showed what hustle, playing D and some fortitude can do. They had a bunch of their better players not suited up or not there. Their bench which would probably be viewed as subpar talent for this level just flat balled out. The dude they picked up off the street was 4-6 from the field. Another guy that played in Mexico last year played like a stud. Isaac Haas had a double double in less than 20 minutes. They played hard and wanted to be there. I wish I could say the same for the Jazz now.

This is from an article about how Abdul Gaddy deserves to be signed by ab NBA team. In going through the author's metrics NWG's name gets spit out: "Over OKC’s last 15 games, the veteran guard has impressed by averaging 13.4 points, 9.6 assists, and 3.2 rebounds on 48% from the field and 52% from beyond the arc on 2.8 attempts per game, Those great numbers become even more impressive when you combine it with him maintaining a 63% True Shooting Percentage and 3.3 Ast/TO ratio during that period. Utah Jazz guard Nigel Williams-Goss and Minnesota Timberwolves two-way prospect Jordan McLaughlin are the only guards besides Gaddy to maintain a 62% True Shooting Percentage and 3.0 Ast/TO ratio. "

Brantley is averaging 19/7/3.5 with 1.6 stls. I don't know what he's supposed to prove in the G-league at this point, other than get some run and some shots up. In his last 6 games, he's averaged 23/7/3.

Justin Wright-Foreman is averaging 17 ppg and shooting 40% from 3pt. I think most of that will translate if we want another guy on the floor who can shoot.

I'm wondering if the front office is comparing them to Naz and Cavanaugh from last year and cavalierly saying "Nah you ain't prospects?".
