The Altar of Juwan Morgan

He played mostly well. That drop under the rim hurt. I wonder if he is going to play against more traditional teams or if this is just a matchup option. Either way I'm glad Snyder is finally using him in scenarios where it makes logical sense to not play Tony Bradley.

Cool that he played. But, um, the obvious choice for backup C in this game (vs Houston) was Royce O’Neale. Q isn’t thinking very nimbly right now.

Royce was on Harden mostly. And sagging off of Westbrook kinda makes sense for more size.

Well if we are calling the C whoever guards Russ, then Royce was the backup 5 in the 2nd half. That's more semantics tho vs a team like Houston.

How many possessions did it take for Q to switch Morgan onto Tucker and Royce onto Westbrick? Answer: way too many.

Bring back Udoh. Run some switching bench units of:

Conley/Mitchell
Clarkson
Ingles
Morgan
Udoh

Can’t blame the kid, but Morgan has looked super timid (almost freighted) in his limited minutes.

Hope that changes, but I have a feeling Brantley wouldn’t be that way. Pure guess though.

The Rockets fans loved every minute Juwan Morgan was on the floor. He didn't play bad, but someone needs to articulate to me in detail what it was that he did well.

When Morgan was on the floor the rockets had a hard time scoring. Westbrook took fewer shots at the rim and settled for jump shots. Their offense got confused on who to attack. And we made up a lot of points.

When Bradley was subbed in Houston attacked him 5 or 6 straight possessions. Subbing in Bradley reminds me of when they lower the cow into the raptor cage on Jurassic park. Easy meal. It was nice to see Snyder sub out of that sitch.

Rebounding outside his zone, too. That’s probably what thrilled me most.
Those offensive rebounds from the corner are one way to “space” the floor. If you ain’t close then you ain’t got a body on the guy.

He has those amazing Jason Kidd hands where when the ball is loose it’s his...

Alright HH, I want hold your feet to the fire for a second. You gotta decide right now: how many of these g-leaguers are rotation players or will be in short order? (Morgan, Brantley, Oni, JWF, Tucker, and NWG).

Morgan Brantley and Oni I am almost sure will be. Morgan may be the most vanilla of the group but if he develops his shot a bit he could also be the small ball 5 every team wants.

Not a fan of Tucker... seems like a smaller, less skilled AB. JWF is interesting but small... he will likely be a g league guy and gets some stints. Might be a guy that floats around and gets some action in a couple places like Trey Burke. NWG should have already been sent packing. Poor man's Neto and not nearly as good looking.
