Coronavirus

Anyhoo…… This discussion of "Marxism" is in a degree relevant to the Corona Virus because of people's fears, in some quarters, of it's politicization or whatever, including notions which I think can't be realistically believed, of its deliberate release.

Political operators sometimes invoke, in the cause of Marxism or any of its modern variants, ideas about how proponents should not let any crisis go to waste, and this is a direct instruction to adherents of Progressivism etc that this "Crisis" must be exploited and politicized.

I think that is essentially what @Thriller, and other DumpTrumpsters are doing here.

Well, have fun kiddies. I think it's a harmless effort that will make Trump look good to most people.

But I also see a huge positive public health benefit, because it will incentivize Trump to be more pro-active to do stuff to control the outbreak, and to incentivize folks to do a lot more to reduce their risk-taking behaviors.

As I have noted above, this is the most serious variant of "flu" that we have seen yet.

Here's a bold idea. Maybe if Trump decided, where the coronavirus is concerned, to simply STFU, his name wouldn't appear in this thread.....

OK. But @Trump would never go for it. He will work every angle to the max to get the public notice.

Trump is not a member in here????/

Damn, I'll have to tweet his publicist. Pretty sure he will fix that.

People who smoke, people who are alcoholics, don't they bear some responsibility for bad choices? If I caught the deadlier of the two strains of this coronavirus, in my present situation, in terms of age, and underlying conditions, it means it will most likely kill me. This I do believe. I have read what the final, most serious symptom is, and it would be very hard for me to survive the worst symptoms. My wife is still healing from 10 broken ribs, pneumonia always being a danger with that type of injury. Plus her own underlying conditions and age would also make death a very real possibility. If it does have a mortality rate of 3.4%, that is ridiculously more fatal then a flu with a 0.1% mortality rate. And you can bet that mortality rate is higher for someone my age and health. If I were in Wuhan at its worst, the mortality rate was 8% for someone like me. Now, I don't see the panic the cartoon you posted displays, but I'm not in Seattle, should at risk groups there be a tad nervous. And I am not in any state of panic myself. But, I'm not asleep at the wheel, either. I know this can kill me, and I know if I or my wife contract it, we are in deep ****.

Of course, this is my personal take. You're entitled to dismiss or laugh at the response to coronavirus in America to your heart's content....

i'm involved with our infectious disease protocols at work, while I don't have any direct contact with the coronavirus patients I oversee the decontamination work and transport them throughout the hospital, while catching it myself really doesn't concern me, I do care for my parents who would be at very high risk if they caught it. So it is concerning, depends on your circumstances really. the panic is a bit nuts tho.

I am going to spring training to drive around a team for a few weeks. The flu is going around there. Yu Darvish was just hospitalized for fear of Coronavirus. I'm not afraid to be infected by it but it would devastate me to bring it back home and infect my family.

The "lack of testing" debacle:

https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/06/poli...nce-donald-trump-politics-congress/index.html

(CNN)A political storm over confusion and delays in coronavirus testing will only intensify after President Donald Trump canceled a trip to the agency responsible for problems that are hampering a full accounting of the disease's spread into 19 states.

Trump will no longer visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday. The White House says that he didn't want to distract from the CDC's work but the cancellation coincides with growing scrutiny of the administration's failure to get millions of virus testing kits quickly out to the states.

A fault with an early batch of CDC testing kits limited testing capacity from the start and officials in states and cities are sounding the alarm that they lack the capacity for mass diagnosis as the virus spreads, even as the White House strives to ratchet up production of new tests.

The issue of test kits, along with a building crisis in the travel industry is becoming the focus of widening political pressure on the White House and is contradicting President Donald Trump's glowing new self assessments of a seamless virus management effort.

Bring lots of hand sanitizer, and use it liberally.

I'm going to just drink it. Couple bottles a day oughta do it.

Adding orange juice makes it drinkable, its called an ED sunrise, at least thats what the Alcos who steal it from Emergency do. We had a couple of regulars we used to have to search before we kicked em out cause they were notorious for stealing two or three bottle of the stuff, after every admission.
