So An Earthquake Just To Keep Us On Our Toes?

@Handlogten's Heros Sorry for the delay with an update. I know you have been on pins and needles waiting. The day of the earthquake she got 9 eggs, all after 1 PM. Still not great production. Since then however she has been getting 15+ eggs a day. 19 yesterday. Looks like we have turned a corner and are well on our way to 2 dozen a day.

Just curious, is it the first time you have experienced earthquakes?. I remember a few friends of mine went bananas after a small earthquake in DC about 8 years ago.

I'm from Lima (Peru) and earthquakes are pretty common (I have experienced some between 5-7 richter). Stronger I felt was in Ecuador last year, about 7.2. Now I live in Mexico City so I'm pretty ****ed. My wife absolutely hates them so we now live in the ground floor of an old row house (many new buildings with more than 5-6 floors collapsed in my neighborhood during the 2017 earthquake).

No, not my first. I had the pleasure of being in a 6.8 while living in CA in '94.

They are pretty scary when they get you sleeping or while working in a high rise building. Worst case would be while you are having sex (unless you are @Rubashov and finish in less than 30sec) or taking a dump. :D

Do you remember what were you doing at the time?

My last one (7.2 in Cuenca, Ecuador) happened while I was sleeping. I was living in an old wooden house in the historic center. It felt like I was in a house of cards.

It was at 4:30 in the morning so yes, that's how I woke up that day.

You should have told me earlier... the stock market rebounded nicely today... I could have made back some dough had I known the egg count trend.

I felt a smaller one on my mission in Honduras. It would have been in 1998. It was just enough for us to realize it was an earthquake in the middle of the afternoon. It was over before we realized what was happening.
This one woke me from a deep sleep and lasted longer. It was definitely stronger. It also felt different. The first one I remember feeling like a vibration. This one felt like bouncing or being on a boat.

We haven't really had a lot of big ones in Utah. I've felt a couple of small ones in my life, but this was quite a bit different. The last one we had that was as big as this was in St George in 1992, but that was more than 300 miles away from this one and we didn't feel it in this area.

I was about 100 miles away, on a lawn chair on an island about 50 feet from the ocean in a restaurant in class. I thought someone was grabbing the back of my chair and shaking it and I turned around wondering why that person was doing that during class. There was no one there.

Soon we realized that there was an earthquake. Little bit later, owner of restaurant came out yelling "no tsunami" very excitedly. Highest point on island is like 20 feet, so it felt relevant at the time.

I have felt several different types. The big one in Northridge was 6.8 and was a "thrust quake" in that it moved the ground up and down making it incredibly violent. There were two after shocks of 6.0 that same day and several in the mid 5's over the next few days. You can see how freeway supports "mushroomed" from the up and down shaking.

While in CA we also experienced several "slip quakes". These were a lot less violent. Smaller ones felt more like being on a boat that is rocking in the water. Stronger ones would shake you but nothing like the thrust quakes.
 
Just felt a 4.2 here in Davis County. It’s been pretty consistent for the three weeks since the first one. I know for those in California, it may be the norm, but I personally am getting a little sick of it. My wife is about to lose her damn mind.

That was the first earthquake I've ever felt in my life. I thought I'd be more scared but it didn't even faze me lol
