What's new

How has the virus affected you directly?

I spread them around to have easy access to play with in the hand. Perhaps it kills this virus that is in contact with my hand before I transfer it to other surfaces or internally to myself. Like a hand sanitizer more or less.

Why not just use actual hand sanitizer and wash your hands? That is definitely more effective and easier.

Hand washing is more effective than hand sanitizer according to the CDC. By how much seems to be an unknown. Neither may be practical or accessible in many public situations though. Sanitizer is less effective as hands get dirtier between washings. I have no idea the effect hand sanitizer has on viruses compared with handling a piece of copper or even brass, but sanitizer is much less convenient than rubbing a penny or something copper after everytime you contact your hand to an exposed public surface.

Today's new restrictions, partners who live separately cannot see each other. For the love of dog!!!

My mother just informed me she signed up for the newly formed corona virus ward in her hospital because there were very few of the younger nurses that volunteered to do it. So yeah... now instead of the younger ones that are least likely to be seriously affected by it, it's the older ones that have to volunteer. ****ing insanity. She's going to be giving 24 hour shifts starting Monday.

Thats ****ed. Our infectious disease ward is dedicated to it plus ICU, ED and the fever clinic, with other forward planning in place for extta capacity. As far as i know not many staff have refused to come into work.

There's a curve at the beginning and EoL. 65+ are at an elevated risk, 80+ moreso, and young children. But if you have comorbidities(heart failure, diabetes, lung issues, immunocrompromised, etc) you should really look out as well.

.

yup completely ****ed. And the 20-35 year old women is the biggest rate of positive testing and spreading. Spoilt young bitches

Other than being in my yard I hadn't been out of the house for nearly a week. I couldn't take it any longer so took a drive yesterday. Didn't go any place or stop and get out, just drove around for about 45 minutes. This was around 5 pm last night. Typically a very bad time to be on the road as it is rush hour traffic. Traffic was very light. Drove past a strip mall that houses several large national chain box stores; Ross, Kohls, Burlington, etc. All closed. Almost all restaurants/fast food places were open but all curbside/drive through service only. All appeared to be dead. The only place that was busy was a super Wal-Mart and the parking lot was completely full. Had to be several hundred cars there. Not a place that I would want to go into. The TP situation is getting sketchy. I have maybe another week's worth. Everything else is still in pretty good shape. Will likely need to brave a grocery store here in a couple of weeks to stock back up.

Life is pretty much normal, outside of the kids not going to school. Live in the country, so we're blessed to be able to take lots of walks and not see people.

I've still been working, actually see 15-20+ truckers a day. So we're staying busy. Definitely seeing some cuts in sales due to no exports and nobody eating in restaurants. Probably looking at 20-30% cuts on our contracts, roughly losing around $1,000,000 gross. Definitely hurts a lot, but we can withstand it. Sounds like there's gonna be some government money to cover losses, but not sure when we'll be able to access that. Sucks when you only get paid by your customers once or twice a year, on delivery of course.

1st world problems but Whole Foods shut the filtered water refill station down. It was much better than our arsenic ladden tap water.

To answer the OP, my dad was supposed to have lung surgery a week ago in Peru (lung cancer) but now he is stuck in U.S. because Peru went into complete lockdown. He can't afford having decent healthcare in U.S. so basically he has to wait until flight restrictions are lifted in Peru. Obviously, with his condition its not ideal he has to wait in what is now the world's covid epicenter.

He probably couldn't get surgery in the US right now even if he wanted to. My mom has been undergoing chemo for stage 4 ovarian cancer. After 3 rounds she was supposed to have surgery next week but that has been cancelled. Apparently surgery to remove cancer is an "elective" surgery. All they will do at this point is keep giving her chemo which will just **** her immune system up even more.

Sorry to hear that. It truly sucks.

Got this **** taken off for the second time. I can shower again!

When you don't shower for a week it makes you feel super gross. That said, it helped me not wanna be around people too.

I'm very sorry to hear about that. I hope this improves soon.
