Keep up the support! They really need it.

Btw, 20% tip is standard. Tip more!

I know it’s standard but that money isn’t going to or helping the business which is what I’m most concerned with. It’s going to a person doing minimal work. I tipped $9 on our $45 pizza place order the other day. So that person got $10 (9+1 delivery fee) for driving to and fro for 10 minutes. I want to help out the business. I’m not going to ridiculously help out some dude who delivers pizza.

That dude that delivers your pizza is also a human with bills to pay. Why is it you don’t want to help service workers?

I tipped him 20%. $9. That’s probably double what he usually gets. I want to keep the businesses alive. Not be the sole provider for a grown *** adult who made poor life decisions and is now delivering pizza. Like I said, this is way better than those guys get on average. I can live with that. If he’s still that hard up, I’m sure he has close family and friends who can help to pay the bills. Or the business owner himself can help.

Twenty percent is by no means a bad tip (although considering the additional risk service workers are putting themselves at right now I think there's good reason to reward them for it), but there's a lot of gross assumptions in this post.

Totally, I get it.

What I don’t get is your judgement of people you seem to think are below you. Also, you apparently know the delivery driver. Which poor life decisions did he make?

This is hilarious. So the workers are at risk but I’m not by getting their food that’s been handled by multiple people? Spare me.

So the delivery people are so educated and skilled but just choose to live the Will Hunting life to buck the system?

Where did I say you're not also putting yourself at risk?

You also have the choice here of making yourself food at home, or paying for the convenience of someone bringing it to you. I'm not saying people shouldn't order delivery, helping out local businesses right now is important, just that if you do you should recognize what it is you're asking these service workers to do, and compensate them for it.

No ****. And I am. But to act like I or any citizen should subsidize everyone’s lives is laughable. I am going above. I won’t go beyond because that’s stupid and like investing all your money in stocks. I have a family to think of. Three children and a wife and a mortgage like most of us here. To think I’m gonna throw around 40% tips or some **** is retarded. My wife could be laid off at any moment.

Also note and perhaps this should have been said. This is a chain pizza place in the county. There are 7-8 locations. So for me, the owner can help subsidize these people if my 20% tips for driving a pizza for 10 minutes aren’t good enough. At the restaurant, I have tipped a little higher.

That's cool man, you don't have to justify yourself to me. Like I said, twenty percent isn't a bad tip. Your disdain for service workers is the gross part.

Oh ****ing spare me disdain. The ****ing liberals on this site are as bad as the conservatives. If someone has chosen pizza delivery guy as their profession, their life choices are probably pretty ****ing suspect. I’m not talking about kids going to college looking to pick up some money either. I’m talking about grown *** adults. Sure there is the very rare anomaly who is very skilled and can’t find any jobs anywhere and has to do this temporarily. Then there’s the far majority who have little education or career-based skills. They’re cool living with mom and delivering pizza. I know three such people, one of whom is my bro-in-law, none of whom make good choices. This is New Jersey. Great companies everywhere.

It's weird that you're making this a political thing.

Maybe I'll just chalk this up to a lack of imagination on your end, or your personal experience coloring your views, but people who work service jobs don't always do so out of "poor life decisions." This belief is especially strange to have at a time when millions of people are losing their jobs each week.

It makes it so you can better tell who’s sick and who isn’t. It allows countries to quickly isolate the sick and prevent community spread. It’s not about curing but about preventing spread. I wish I could be tested so I could know if I’m a vector for the disease. But utah doesn’t have enough tests.

Countries that are reopening followed this path.
I don't believe what you said about Utah not having enough tests, is true. They are basically begging people to get tested. Now, they do want you to have at least one of the six symptoms, but they may even relax that here soon if they can't get people to come get tested.

You keep lumping all service jobs together. That’s hysterical.

It’s not a political thing. It’s a “being a douche” thing.

My jab at your tip was a joke, hence the wink. You’re inability to put yourself in others shoes is what is retarded.
