What's new

Last good song you listened to?

Well you didn't wake up this morning 'cause you didn't go to bed
You were watching the whites of your eyes turn red
The calendar on your wall was ticking the days off
You've been reading some old letters
You smile and think how much you've changed
All the money in the world couldn't buy back those days

You pull back the curtain
And the sun burns into your eyes
You watch a plane flying
Across a clear blue sky
This is the day, your life will surely change
This is the day, when things fall into place

You could have done anything, if you wanted
And all your friends and family think that you're lucky
But the side of you they'll never see
Is when you're left alone with your memories
That hold your life together, like glue

One good thing about all this is the number of artists who are doing really stripped down versions of songs and just sending them out into the ether...

Was a big Sun Kil Moon fan back in High School but had kind of forgot about them for a minute. Came across this on youtube and god damn it is great.

Wow. I like the heaviness. Went to youtube and checked out a couple other songs. Pretty good. I'll have to make a deeper dive.

The album that got me into them in HS was called Tiny Cities and was all Modest Mouse covers (one of my all time favorite bands). But they have a lot of great stuff.

If you like that heaviness, listen to "Alesund" and "Church of the Pines" from the album "Admiral Fell Promises". Really heady and moving stuff, imo. Mark Kozelek is frankly a complete dick, but he does something musically/lyrically now and then that is truly special.

I do love Heavy Devi. Altho I generally prefer his solo/project stuff.

yeah I think I listened to the Deconstruction album on repeat for like a week when it came out. Big fan of the proggy prog. SYL is there for when you just want to feel brutal for a minute.
