RE: the return of the NBA

China.

I think that's the only blemish. The decision is quite forgotten thanks to Durant.

He got busted DM'ing some big booty instagram ho a few years back but that's about it, though I've heard pretty verifiable rumors about other things. None of my beeswax though, that's between his wife and him.

I don't even consider the decision wrong, just a small bit of self awareness. His advisors should have known better to not do that than he should have. The fact anyone outside of Cleveland was upset by that is silly.

Much better teammate than MJ... has been an ambassador for the league with his play/character. Has he had one TMZ moment in his entire career? Been in the spotlight since he was a teenager.

Not sure what you want from the guy... sorry he didn't cape for the extremely charismatic Dan Gilbert. Sorry he wanted to use his choice to work where he wanted and with who he wanted. He's terrific and I've really enjoyed his career.

LeBron is obviously a phenomenal basketball player and I certainly am not using MJ as the standard with regard to being a teammate. In my view, much of what he does is about building LeBron rather than the game or the league and it goes beyond the decision. And I think he has left plenty of debris in his wake. To each his own. Glad you like him.

If you have a shot at winning the title each and every year he’s on your team, then you have to continually empty your bullets in pursuit of your best odds. Doing that year after year will have consequences on even the best-run franchise. It’s reasonable to do it, though.

Especially in this CBA environment. Back in the day when you could sign guys to 6/7 year deals you could slow build. The model now is to find a window and push all in. His franchises, Miami and Cleveland the first go around, both recovered nicely... Cleveland this go around is a little slow to recover, but he went back there after the owner absolutely blasted him... they had to do everything they could for him.

Every NBA player is about building themselves first... as they should be... kinda dumb to think otherwise. Rudy is about building Rudy...DM too, but guess what... those guys being the best version of themselves leads to winning.

LeBron has always made teammates better. That's who he is. He made Mo Williams an All Star for crying out loud. LeBron is about winning and making the best basketball play.

MJ was about winning too, but he couldn't do it with anybody. Every single season he played without Pippen, he had a losing season. MJ had 5 losing seasons. No current player would be considered a legend with that many losing seasons. Without Pippen, MJ was 1-10 in playoffs games. That's pathetic.

Sure everybody needs help to win a title, but LBJ can win at least a little bit playing with anybody. He takes scrubs to the second round. His only two losing seasons were his 18 year old rookie year and last year when he missed the last 3rd of the season due to injury. Before the injury, the Lakers were the 4 seed.

So as for LBJ just building the brand, that's garbage. If anything, brands made MJ.

So with first wave Covid getting worse people still think this season is going ahead? Didnt Florida record 4000 new cases yesterday?

Florida has a population smaller than Australia and has 3100 deaths. We have just over 100. Methinks you have bigger problems than basketball .

Were all 4000 cases recorded in Disney World?

Why people believe that if a state has x the whole state has x in some equal proportion is a mystery. Crime works the same way. A large city can have a bad crime rate, but it doesn't tend to be evenly distributed across the city.

Well, 3 more NBA players tested positive for Covid-19 it seems. 2 Suns players possibly Rubio and Ayton and Jokic from the Nuggets. Makes you wonder if the season really going to happen.

It's happening... I'm guessing these are all asymptomatic since they did team testing and that is what prompted the tests. There is apparently 1 team with 4 positive tests per Woj... so the count could be like 7. I bet almost every team has one positive test.

Wait... I'm not sure you can cheer for this. I think you are going to get canceled.
Well we know that our two best players aren’t going to be out because of COVID. Unfortunately, our third best player will be out for non-COVID.

I am becoming more and more sceptical about the next season. Maybe NBA will manage to pull off that Disneyworld Playoffs formula but how can you realistically expect the regular season to start in the fall or winter? There is no visible end of the virus yet and we will probably see another waves of pandemic in the last months of the year. You can organise the playoffs in the "sterile" situation but what next? You can't lock the players up in the hotel for a half of the year or so.

I’m sure they only care about money.
